File this one in the "YES! this happens to me all the friggin' time" department: start-up
kwiry has gone live with its SMS-based reminder service, which is free and dead simple to use (two key phrases we love to hear). Basically, the idea is this -- you're walking around, you see, hear, or think about something you want to remind yourself about later, and you text it to kwiry's SMS short code; the service collects your saved searches online so you can check 'em out later. It might not be too useful for smartphone power users that insist on doing all their mobile searches directly from their devices in real time, but for the overwhelming bulk of dumbphone folks, this could be huge. Head over to kwiry's site to sign up.

Doesn't Google already go one better by giving you the results now, via an SMS reply?

Not only that, you can schedule the reminder for anytime in the future, and it can be sent via email or sms (or both). Google calendar is the way to go. I use it daily and absolutely love it.

Aye.

Hi,
I'm Ron, the CEO & co-founder of kwiry.
Chris- thanks for the great post about our launch!
I noticed there were some comparisons of kwiry to some GoogleMobile stuff. kwiry is actually for things that you want to check out on your computer with a full sized monitor and keyboard, full-fledged browser, etc. WAP and SMS are good for quick interactions, but we think they still leave a lot to be desired with respect to your normal computer.
Like Chris said we're all about things you see, hear, or think and want to remember later when you're online.
I encourage everyone to sign-up (it's free) and try it out. Please e-mail me with any questions you don't see covered in the FAQ at ronf@kwiry.com.
Thanks!

Love the service - it is so elegantly simple, and something I can imagine myself using a ton.

If you don't want to text the info to yourself, you could use Jott instead. With Jott, you speak the note into your phone, which is then converted to text and SMS'd or e-mailed to you (your choice). You can also send messages to other people the same way. Free. I've been using it happily for months now. I don't work for them or own any stock in the company. I'm just a Jott fanboy. http://jott.com/

How is this better than sending a text to your email address? I do that and use a filter in gmail to sort them. More often, I'll use my dumbphone's note pad or voice memo feature; I just have to remember to check those later. If its something I absolutely must remember in a timely fashion, I use Jott.
I know kwiry is new but in order for them to survive they need some reason for people to not use existing Google SMS & thought capture methods.
