Mobile phone subscriptions hit 3.3 billion
Just last month we heard that there were some 2.68 billion mobile accounts currently active in the world, but a new study by Informa has found that there are actually 3.3 billion subscriptions. This number is somewhat significant considering that it's approximately half of the world's population, but alas, not half of all Earthlings actually own a cellphone. Researchers found that 59 countries had mobile penetration over 100 percent, suggesting that some individuals actually accounted for numerous mobile subscriptions. Sure, the figures here could be picked apart in a myriad ways, but why not just raise your handset to commemorate hitting the big three point three? You are one of them, right?[Image courtesy of W3]

it makes a lot of sense actually. in some countries like taiwan you have to have multiple phones because of network issues. also, how many people have business and personal phones? i have a phone my work gave me and i also have my personal phone. i used to have another person on my personal account but now i have that phone back from them. so technically i guess i have 3 phones now that are active. at least we'll all have brain cancer together

Yeh you right I have a business mobile phone and my personal mobile phone too and I also have another nokia which I just use for text messaging because I picked up a cheap mobile phone deal from http://www.thedealtree.co.uk. You would be surprised the number of mobile phones is on the up in India too!
