No kidding... considering its a really old phone by now.
Also, Verizon's online store says the 2-year contract price is $499!!! Then you get an on-line only discount of $100 and then a $50 MAIL-IN rebate. So, the real price of the phone can only reach the horrible price of $349 if you want to jump all the hoops. What a rip-off. Verizon's sales slogan should be: "Great call quality on last years phones" or "Americas largest rip-offs"...

I tried too, its 9:43 and the Verizon website doesn't have this out for sale. Perhaps the guy that released the info that it was out for sale was sleep typing, whats up with that?

Waited forever for this damn phone. Couldn't wait anymore so I got the Samsung SCH-i760, which I am enjoying. Ridiculous wait.

I decided to get the BlackBerry Pearl instead. Much happier now than with my previous Windows Mobile "smart" phones. Still hangin' with Verizon though, no choice really if you actually want to have coverage anywhere. It IS the network. Too bad they're years behind on handsets.

I waited and waited... loyal to the strength of the network.. but could stomach it no more!
Got the HTC Touch from Sprint two weeks ago and am pleasantly surprised.
The phone rocks WM6 and the HTC UI overlays are great!
The processor and RAM upgrades are a huge positive as well. It now runs like you feel it should.
As to the signal, I have to say the network here in So. Cal isn't half bad.
So far, in those places I've checked, I'm averaging at least one bar better than on my VZ "Q".
Kicks-ass on price too.
On Sprint's SERO plan, I'm paying $50/mo. [1250 minutes + unltd. texts and data] for what VZ is charging $110!
My only regret is customer service. VZ still clearly beats Sprint on that mark
So the XV6800 delayed 'till December 5th, 2007 for no real reason?!
Sorry it now just looks old and sad

It's supposed to see a soft release on Nov 28, all channels on Dec 5. The people over on Hofo have ordered it through telesales, usually having to give the SKU. Some reps will sell, some will not.. it just depends on who you get

This Phone came Far to late! Sprint has had the mogul for quite some time now, and AT&T has drawn ahead with the Tilt!!! Had the handset come at the right time it would have been great, but now, every time i see it, it just looks like a brick.

I bet the only reason they are selling it is because they ran out of the Samsung760 and can't get a new order in before the holidays.

"How about the stuff we were going to depreciate as obsolete?"

Has anyone done a head-to-head comparison between the XV6800 and the Treo 700wx?
I've had a Verizon XV6600 for 2 years, and I am basically satisfied with it. I like the big screen and functionality (esp. being able to edit Word, Excel, Powerpoint via Pocket Slides, etc on the go). I really wished it had WiFi, and it's also a bit bigger and heavier (I have an extended battery) and thicker than my husband's Moto Q and the XV6600 doesn't work great as a phone - but I live with it. I also have a lot of data on my XV6600 stored on a 2GB SD card w/USB.
After dropping the XV6600, Asurion sent me two defective replacements then said they needed to send me a brand-new phone. Since the XV6600 and XV6700 are apparently discontinued, they said they needed to send me the Treo 700wx. Now I know a lot of people swear by Treo, but I'm used to the XV6600 (esp the bigger screen). Furthermore, the XV6800 seems to solve all the problems of my XV6600 (esp WiFi!) and it's even GPS-capable, but Asurion says they don't carry the XV6800. So my question is two-fold:
1. Is the Treo 700wx going to be as good as the XV6800? In fact, is the Treo's reputation for reliability going to make it better than the XV6800?
2. Does anyone have any idea when Asurion is going to carry the XV6800? Am I now screwed because they're sending me a Treo 700wx as a replacement phone, and I'm stuck with Treos for all eternity unless I buy a new phone and sign a new 2-year contract with Verizon? Is there any way to get Asurion to give me the XV6800 once they start carrying it (I'm assuming they will have to carry it at some point)? I've already spoken with the Verizon rep, who says that I need to speak with Asurion since they're the ones send me the Treo 700wx as a replacement.
Finally, if I am able to get a XV6800 somehow, is there any way to convert SD to mini-SD? I'm trying to convince myself that the Treo 700wx will be just as good as an XV6800, but am not really succeeding. Please help.....

The treo will never be as good as the xv6800. Smaller screen, smaller keyboard, no wifi. I am glad they added more ram in the wx but it is still a far cry from a proper WM5 device IMO.

I have used both devices; the xv6800 and treo 700wx are both good devices in general, but they are very different. So it is more a matter of preference. (BTW, the extra ram in the 700wx over the 700w makes a HUGE improvement in multitasking and a little improvement in stability and speed.) Since you are so happy with your old 6600, I agree that you may not like the 700wx b/c it is so different. To oversimplify it a bit, my opinion is the 700wx is a better one-hand device and the xv6800 is a better two-hand device. Since you are already getting the 700wx, I suggest you concentrate on trying out its one-handedness. Try to never pull out that stylus (there are some rare tasks that require it). Focus on the extra and speedy usefulness of the today screen: the ability to immediately look up your contacts just by typing in their name and then calling them; the very speedy speed dialing; the convenient web search box on the today screen; oh and the I-can't-believe-nobody-else-does-this "silent all" switch at the top. Once you have learned to use the 700wx one-handed and its convenient features, if you still don't like it, ditch it, cause you will likely never like it. Hope this helps.

All cell phones now have built in GPS. I suspect that Verizon will at some point create a feature for the GPS use. Otherwise it's strictly for the NSA and 911 calls. If someone knows better please let me know.

I ordered the xv6800 on line this morning, first to find the phone you have to go to PDA's then scroll all the way to the bottom to find the phone, whats up with that?............but the good news is I got it for $200.00 bucks. Originally $500 minus $100 for renewal of contract, $100 on line discount, $100 for upgrading my plan from just voice to voice and data. I'm happy with the deal and excited to finally get this damm thing. But I'm still puzzled as to why this phone is buried in the website, sure hope its not a lemon!

Also, Can I get on the internet with the xv6800. Like go to ebay and check email on hotmail. I see that Get It Now was not a option so I was unsure.

Yes you can access the internet with WiFi or a full data package for 44.99/mo unlimited or 24.99/mo for 10mbs of use (probably like 8 webpages.)

This phone is out waaaay too late. Half the memory and processor speed of the Tilt. Will the GPS even be unlocked for use with apps such as gMaps?
This last weekend you coulda swiped a Tilt for $99, that's $150 online plus $50 off with coupon code. Maybe even an additional $25 if you have an existing AT&T customer refer you. Now it's back up to $300, but still, that's for twice the phone the XV6800 is!

This comment, much like mine is not necessary, but I dont see a tytn II or a Tilt on VZW they may not get them out right away but they try to get them out, and when they do usually they are good, 6700 aside, which was horrible. Can't wait to go through all of this next year when whatever pda phone thats been out since now is released on vzw in november of 08.

I just got the Xv6800 and to be honest, I just might stick with my Treo 700wx.
Windows Mobile 6 still has some issues with some websites

I just got my xv6800 and I'm a little disappointed. It isn't the best made phone, it seems kinda like the difference between a foreign car and an american car, (cheap), and I'm not sure if I like having to touch little numbers on the screen to make a phone call, but I will give it some time as it does offer a lot of features!

Okay I was doing side by side comparisons:
Processor ROM RAM CAMERA
6600: 400Mhz 64MB 128MB ?
6700: 416Mhz 128MB 64MB 1.3MP
6800: 384Mhz 256MB 64MB 2.0MP
What's up with the decrease in processor speed? It's like they really didn't upgrade the phone except for more memory. Here's an off the wall Question. Is it possible to pull the RAM off the 6600 and install to the 6800? (I have an old 6600, and am thinking about buying a 6800)

I have been weighing the Blackberrys, XV6800 and Samsung SCH-i760 the last few days trying to figure out which one I want. The Samsung definitely has more complete reviews and information online but overnight has become unavailable and I haven't found one to look at up close. I was thinking about a Voyager but no calendar/contact sync is pointless for me. I was leaning towards the unattractive Samsung after reading some reviews about how its well built and the extended battery & travel charger that comes with it, but am disappointed to find out it might not have IM. Has anyone seen any good demos online for either of these? I really want to know more about functions than I have found on their website...
