It was a Vodafone exec that reported Verizon Wireless' pending devotion to the LTE standard (which makes sense considering Vodafone's undying desire for Verizon to conform to the worldwide wireless standard). In a separate interview of Verizon execs, it was reported that all options (meaning LTE, UMB and WiMax) remained on the table.
