Samsung announces U900 FlipShot for Verizon
Look familiar? It should -- we've known that the A990's replacement has been stewing on the burner for a while now, and here it is in official form. The U900 FlipShot from Samsung is positioned as Verizon's ultimate, do-all multimedia powerhouse without venturing into smartphone territory, offering a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, TV out capability, microSD slot (what good would that healthy cam be otherwise?), stereo Bluetooth, QVGA internal and 128 x 96 external displays, support for VZ Navigator, and a rotating top half. Look for the black version to launch on Verizon's website while Best Buy grabs the red on the 26th of the month for $199.99 on contract.

So wait...clear that last sentence. Are you saying it is going to be available on the 26th both online and at Best Buy, or available on the 26th on Best Buy only?

Verizon's selling the black version as of today through its website, though it won't launch in physical stores until January. Best Buy gets the red version on the 26th.

Best Buy already has the display for it and it's actually only $129.99 w/ new 2yr contract, at least in the Chicago metro.

No MediaFLO for a flagship phone? I was going to buy one of these (especially since I sort of hate Motorola phones), but I would expect it to actually be more of an upgrade to the A990 than it is.

This phone is very nice and is a quite similar to the sch-a990. I'm very curious to know why the sch-a990 was removed from the verizon website, is it not for sale anymore? Does anyone know?
