Sony Ericsson's patent application for drag and drop NFC-style

We're all about fanciful ideas, and Sony Ericsson's patent application for near-field communication (NFC) as a means of transferring files between devices certainly falls into that category. The application features -- at least in one scenario -- the ability to slide a file off your device's screen and have a neighboring device receive it as if you are simply handing a note across. Apart from issues like directional control potentially getting in the way -- and of course security -- this'd be an awesome use of this type of technology, and a brilliant way to cheat on tests. Now let's get that big touchscreen device to market, OK Sony Ericsson?

Noone cares now but two years from now Apple will put it in some of their products and call it revolutionary.

Stop saying "no one cares"... damn. That's is totally annoying. Obviously you fucking care or you wouldn't have posted first. Whatever. Anyway.
The bigger and more important point is. This will only work with other people who have Sony Ericsson phones. As a SE owner -- I can tell you that I run into another SE owner, um... never. But I know at lease 4-5 people that have iPhones. Anyone else, carries a "POS" handed out free from their service provider.
Anyone that's willing to drop 6 notes on a Sony Ericsson, will more then likely drop 4 on an iPhone, another $100 for "Apple accesseries" and the rest on crap from iTunes. So that's great but, when is this going to be useful? Maybe in Europe or Japan?

iRobot, I have an SE phone, in fact it's normally all I buy. I would love to see this feature but I agree most people prefer the el' cheapo phones to a good device

Sounds interesting... but as someone said, I rarely run into someone with a SE phone...
