T-Mobile suspends Sidekick Slide sales
So, first the bad news: T-Mobile and Motorola have confirmed that "some" Sidekick Slides are turning themselves off when the display is opened or closed. Now, the good: they're doing something about it. Slide sales have been suspended as of this evening while Moto works to identify just what the heck's going on; meanwhile, existing owners who've experienced problems can call T-Mobile or head into a store to "discuss available options." For what it's worth, neither of T-Mobile's other Sidekicks in the current lineup -- the LX and the iD -- are affected, so Sharp might see a nice little sales spike here as Slide owners look for an alternative. Follow the break for T-Mobile's full statement.T-Mobile USA suspended sales of the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide™ on Friday evening, Nov. 16, after Motorola – the manufacturer of the device – confirmed that some devices may inadvertently power off when the slide door on the front side of the phone is opened or closed.
T-Mobile has taken this action to help ensure our customers only receive devices we're confident will perform at their peak, so they can stay effortlessly connected to those who matter most.
Motorola is currently working to identify the root cause of the power cycle issue in affected Sidekick Slide devices. The T-Mobile Sidekick LX™ and Sidekick iD™ are not affected by this issue.
If a customer purchased a Sidekick Slide that is experiencing the unintended power cycle issue, they may contact T-Mobile Customer Care, or go to a T-Mobile retail store, for assistance and to discuss available options.

this serves as an example for all you verizon haters that say they take too long to release their phones like the 6800
look what happens when things don't get properly tested, sales get suspended and it creates a big mess and problem for t-mobile

The 6800 is a terrible comparison buddy, the variants of this phone have been on other carriers for months.
Mark @ Nov 19th 2007 9:42AM
the 6800 has had known problems on other networks and thats why vzw is waiting until dec 5th come out with theres

Everyone knows that Verizon does not roll out windows mobile phones until Sprint rolls them out (6700, 6800). Fast Follower mentality.

the sidekicks suck in general. I'd rather have a Kaiser or something. T-mobile is so bad that I had to buy an unlocked phone and it works like a charm. Funny how t-mobile is kissing ass by giving you more minutes when what we need is 3G lol. I will not buy a phone from the United States ever again.

I don't like it at all... it sucks!

Wow! Listen to yourselves bitching. One phone varient goes sour and you all judge TMobile? Just so you know this is an isolated batch problem that was Motorolas issue not TMobiles.
Remember when RAZR didnt have EDGE from bad chipsets? Ya'll judged then too but still its the most sold phone. Remember TMobile had the other gsm RAZR issue and Verizon took it that TMobile and Cingular were bad networks? Just keep in mind its MOTOROLA not the carriers fault.

don't the carriers have some sort of required testing of the phones before the put them out and but their brands on them?

My girlfriend just bought a Slide a few days ago. She kept saying how I'd probably want one. LOL I own a Sprint Motorola Q btw.
I called around for her and the T-Mobile rep swapped her out with a free Sidekick LX
Joe @ Nov 18th 2007 7:55PM
Yeah, if you call them or whatever they will send you a Sidekick LX (Only Blue) For free, dont even have to pay shipping!
