SIM card gadget backs-up and copies on the cheap

Not only does this shiny gadget bring SIM safety via its backup abilities, it looks good while at work. Using it is a snap, place your SIM -- any SIM or R-UIM card -- in the device and choose to back up or restore up to 500 saved contacts from a previous backup to your card. The device's screen doubles as clock / calendar while not performing any SIM copying or backup duties, and did we mention, it's shiny? While this bit of tech may not be too useful for the smartphone crowd, for 15 bucks, it'll make a useful gift for those not sync inclined.

These things have been on the market and Ebay for years, and the only thing they are good for is copying contacts, which is something that most phones can do themselves these days anyway.
Now if it could dupe a sim card, allowing me to keep a spare in case I lost my current phone or wanted to be able to switch between two phones (big bulky for business, slim and stylish for personal) as easily as turning one off and the other on, then this might be interesting. As far as I know though, SIMLock prevents all but authorized dealers (or those with the very expensive equipment required) from doing just that.
Slow news day guys?

My phone allows me to back up contacts, SMS, and organizer info to a miniSD card, which I find to be far better.

My Mom bought one of these for me (the exact model above) like 3 months ago and the build quality is horrible. lus it's of very limited functionality. POS
