I think Verizon should focus more on getting the Curve. These POS windows mobile devices just aren't going to cut it in a BB world. Vzw is going to start losing customers if they dont get on the ball and start getting BB's at the same time they are released on TMo or ATT.

Well Ben, that just goes to show what you know. BBConnect on a Windows Mobile device provides the ability to use a Windows Mobile device with a BES. Does BB even make a phone with EVDO in it? I don't think so, and since Windows Mobile devices have so much more functionality, why use a BB or even prefer a BB over Windows? The BB OS is horrible, and the devices are finally coming out with camera's, wifi, and media players which we have had on Windows Mobile devices for years...

BB 8830 and 8130 both have EVDO. Saying the OS is horrible is really a meaningless comment. But if you were to say the Blackberry OS is more stable than Windows you would be correct. It may be more liited but for the majority of users it probably does more than what they need.
I agree VZWS needs the curve, but the 8830 is pretty solid also. They just need to uncripple the GPS on Blackberry maps.

I tried a BB for a while, but the deal breaker for me was - ironically enough - the fact that my Windows Mobile device simply does a better job of handling email. It syncs with Exchange flawlessly, just like a BB does, include push mail. But it really outclasses a BB on personal email accounts. Going through BIS simply does not cut it, as reconciliation of email read/delete status between device and server is a crap shoot. No such issues with my WM device.
That said, I did like the BB user interface, and that track-ball ROCKS.

Why is saying the OS is horrible a meaningless comment? It is true, and isn't the iPhone proving that by inventing a new OS that does things a better way, is revolutionizing how phones are used? Isn't the OS the guts to the phone? You also wouldn't hear me say the BB OS is more stable, since I have zero stability issues with the Windows Mobile OS, including all the extra software that I install and use that are not available on the BB. Sorry, but I believe that the Windows Mobile devices are superior with more companies providing innovation, and the OS is superior, and the apps available are superior. I certainly wouldn't say they are a POS, since they offer so much more. When will BB ever come out with a different form factor than the same ole? The scroll wheel is sweet though, I will give them that.

Mark this date on your calendar gents...because when you take into account the time it took verizon to bring the standard i760 to market... 1 year from today is when this new fancy world phone would be released...

Couple of questions about BB Connect (and sorry for asking a complete n00b question):
1) Is there a version of BB Connect for the i760 (the current edition, not nec. the world phone)? Is BB Connect phone-specific, or is there a single version for all WM6 devices?
2) Assuming BB Connect is installed, will it connect to all BES servers? My organization is a Lotus Domino/BES shop and our IT claims that only RIM-branded devices can connect. Is it really possible that BB Connect devices would not work on a particular BES, or is my IT full of ****? I have a BB from the paleolithic age, the only one that my company provides, and would love to buy this puppy even if I have to pay for it myself.

Doubtful since you'll have to have Verizon change your data plan to a BB data plan and Verizon won't do that for phones whos ESN/MEID don't explicitly state that the phone is a BB.

I used to be a Blackberry fan until I tried a windows mobile phone!
Feels so nice having the power to do whatever you want!
Windows mobile is way more powerful to me
BTW this completely sucks!! I just bought the i760 and now there coming out with a world phone edition!? I better be able to trade it in

I'd consider this phone, but by the time I actually get around to upgrading we'll probably all be using LTE...
