Yahtzee! Sprint announces prorated ETFs, all four US nationals now on board
So Sprint busted out this really lovey-dovey press release today basically going over all the ways it takes care of its customers -- how you can upgrade your phone at a discounted price if you've stuck with 'em for a while, how they monitor your plan to make sure you're on the best one for your usage, and so on -- but there were a couple gems in there that are new and notable. First off, Sprint has announced here that they're moving to prorated early termination fees, bringing it inline now with all three of the US' other national carriers. Like T-Mobile, it intends to flip the switch on that action in early 2008. Secondly, starting next Monday, customers won't need to re-up their contracts to switch plans (why this was ever a requirement with any carrier simply bewilders us). Finally, the carrier says it plans to announce some "reward programs" next year for subscribers that've stuck with Sprint through thick and thin. No details there, but if they're gonna do up some crazy awesome plans and upgrade discounts (even better ones than it already has, that is), we're all for it.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Cool. My mom has had Sprint since.... 1997. So hopefully she gets some sort of sweet deal out of this.

I think verizon is the only carrier that rewards you for keeping your 2 year contract. And thats cause they give you a extra hundred dollars off for resigning your contract.

Well My family has had sprint for atleast 5-6 years. Hope I get something. In the start we did get roaming errors on our cells. But that was only for a little while. When sprint got nextel and chnaged their whole look our service got better and we haven't gotten any problems at all. I really like and support sprint and this moce is putting them in a very good direction.

I have had Sprint for about 6 years. The last time my contract was up they offered me a 5% discount for the next two years if I signed for another two years.

Has anyone noticed that the title says "...all four nationals..." on it, while in the post it says three? Yes I'm a nerd for noticing this...

I think he meant to say "the other three nationals"
I love my T-Mobile plan and services, and the changes they are GOING to make, except the phone upgrade fee they impliment tomorrow.
However, I need faster data and better coverage in SFO. Looks like Sprint is getting me as a customer, since there is a less ETF

I read the press release from Sprint. It limits the ability to change your contract for any reason to the first 6 months of the contract. Before you only had 3 months in which to change your contract for any reason. Thanks for the extra three months, Sprint. To my knowledge none of the other carriers have a similar limitation in allowing you to change your contract.
