Verizon's Venus and Voyager available for pre-order

Seems to be Venus and Voyager day, first more lovely pics and now, pre-orders. The LG Venus and Voyager hit Verizon's site in all of their pre-order glory today, so if you've been itching for an update, your time is now. We've been all over the Venus a few times and as predicted, it has landed for $199 on a 2 year contract and is set for release on November 19th. Pre-orders for LG's Voyager have also started, though this QWERTY set is going to set you back $299 on a 2 year stint with availability slated for Nov 21st. Follow the links below if you've a hankering to plonk down your hard earned cash.

Does anyone know if I get the Voyager (my new every 2 deal started yesterday) if I will have to change my plan or anything. I will only be text and picture messanging besides calls. I don't want Vcast tv or whatever the other stuff is and I won't be checking e-mail.

You shouldn't have to change your plan. It's not in the "smartphone" area, so its still just a regular phone. It has the option of doing much much more, but if you're going to just be text and picture messaging, you should be fine staying on the plan you're on now.

I spoke to VerizonWireless about this yesterday. The rep I spoke to yesterday said that if you have an older plan that predates the "NationWide" plans they have now you will need to switch plans.
They have "Basic", "Select" and Premium" Nationwide plans. With the Basic, you "Pay per Text, Picture, Video & Instant messages and Pay per megabyte when using Mobile Web 2.0. Or, get monthly packages at a reduced rate." (which means unless you add a rather limited messaging plan for least $10, you pay per message.) Select has unlimited text messaging and starts at about $59 per month for individual plans.
The rep spoke to the data team and recommends geting the $15 VPak if you plan to do any web browsing on a regular basis. (Otherwise you will apparently end up with a very large phone bill. I'm still working on getting more info on what exactly the Vpak will provide).
She also said that the Voyager is a hybrid. It is not a smartphone but because it has a HTML browswer it does not use the Verizon "Mobile Web" product either.
Hope this helps.

i heard it might go up in price after midnight tonight, meaning friday. It was actually from a live chat with a verizon rep. You think the voyager would pass 300?
Drake @ Nov 10th 2007 12:01AM
My new every two says $50 off and no online discount for this phone makes it $249 for me. When did they change new every two to $50 instead of $100??
Roo @ Nov 12th 2007 9:08AM
It now all depends on your plan. If you are over 79.99 you get 100. If you are under you get 50. Unless your plan started before Feb 5th 2006. I had to call up and get a 50 dollar credit cause they had mine messed up

Well the Scoop On the Vpack Goes as is....with the vpack u get "Unlimited MB" use with (Vcast Music, also gives u Unlimited use of Vcast Video (streaming videos)Mobile Web 2.0 (if on nationwide plan its included and u dont pay the inital 5$ per month) VZ navigater just MB to dload Map and etc...(still have to pay the 9.99 per month depending on your plan) and get it now I.E. games or roaming the menus of VZ Tones Sony Music Box etc etc.....
