O2 announces O2 Xda orbit 2, aka HTC Polaris and HTC Touch Cruise

The O2 Xda orbit 2 enters officialdom and adds yet another name to an already confused HTC device. The TouchFLO-enabled replacement for the 2006-ish Xda orbit brings a pile of new niceties to the line and a pretty slick new look to boot. Featuring 128 MB / 256 MB of RAM and ROM, a 400 MHz Qualcomm CPU, GPS, quad-band GSM, HSDPA (we've heard tri-band and also only 2100), and a 3 megapixel camera with typical Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity thrown in for good measure. Availability is slated for early December from a rock bottom €99 (roughly $140) on contract. If you're in the know and can provide frequency clarity for us, please do.

And this will be out in the US when exactly? On which carrier?

All new HTC devices are Quadband GSM and if 3G Tri-band with US frequencies, even if they say they are not.

I guess my question was more focused on whether or not it will be coming to T-Mobile, in the hopes of getting it discounted with a new service plan

No qwerty? Seriously?
Are they not releasing a version with a keyboard? What's the point?

if you want a keyboard, get the Tytn II (almost identical specs but with a keyboard)

So we were promised the 21st jan for the awaited xda orbit 2 and now it has strangely vanished from the o2 web site and rumour has it it has been held back until next month? I get suspicious that it might have some gremlins onboard which have not yet been ironed out. I have had every xda range from the start and was looking foward to upgrading to this new version does anyone out there have any thougts on the matter and infact what is the matter? cheers

But does it have the same driver problems that plagie all of HTC's devices?
