Verizon Wireless customers, you may want to sit down for this one. Samsung's oh-so-sexy
SGH-F700, which is currently thrilling quite a few
Vodafone customers, could be headed to The Network -- and soon. According to
Phone Arena, the Verizon variant of the F700 will be dubbed the SCH-U940, but actual details beyond that are scant. We are told that the unit will boast a 440 x 240 resolution touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard and a two-megapixel camera, but beyond that we're left to wonder. No worries though, as the phone will reportedly be landing "in a few months," so keep your eyes peeled, cool?

'a few months' in Verizon terms means 11+ months
This phone was advertised at CES in Jan 07...

But not for VZW, so yeah...

Sometimes I hate smartphones. Every time I make up my mind to get a phone something 10 times more sweetass is right around the corner. Argh!

That's the nice thing about Verizon taking forever to launch PDA phones... you know right around the corner is years away.
Feech @ Nov 1st 2007 12:58AM
Ok, Sprint. I know your busy with wimax, CEO issues, and customer service nightmares. But WTF is going on? you let punk ass Verizon grab 3 touchscreen phones in the last few months? Is anyone running that company? Is the Touch supposed to satisfy us? You suck for real.
AFSAD @ Nov 2nd 2007 3:13PM
im a sprint user aswell and im pissed that there are no good looking phones out. the only touch screen phone we are getting is the not so hot htc touch..zzzz, i was hoping this samsung was coming to sprint..maybe we'll get the armani phone..

Sprint? Pfft. I sued those bastards, went to Verizon and never looked back.

I'm saying a mid-Feb. release. It is NOT a smart-phone, it's simply heavily feature filled.
Harold @ Nov 2nd 2007 2:06PM
the reason its going to Verizon is because of Vodafone... duh
James @ Nov 1st 2007 10:08AM
I am worried less about the release and more abuot the OS. The HUGE selling point to this phone was the croix operating system that was supposed to be oh so brilliant. It's coming to Verizon which is known to design craptastic UIs, so this may not be nearly as brilliant as it sounds in paper.

If Verizon realeased some practical unlimited data plans, I'd stick with them and get this in a minute..but alas.
Downsouth821 @ Nov 1st 2007 6:26PM
Well buddy you better do your reserch. Verizon just released new data plans 15 dollars for voyager with vcast and unlimited video downloads and unlimited web. 29.99 for unlimited blackberry data. So that rant is done with.
frank @ Nov 1st 2007 3:29PM
Mother of christ, Verizon?! Yes, very good point James, Verizon is the UI killer. The only thing we can hope for is that it will have skinning/themes as centrally integrated as the Blackberry OS. At least with my crappy 8830 (that I got from work) I can switch themes and never have to see the heinous red and gray travesty they call an interface. But I don't know if other phones are that flexible.
Seriously, Verizon?
elgee02 @ Nov 1st 2007 7:05PM
Yeah... might want to actually know what you are talking about before you go on those long winded rants. Hardly any of the current VZW lineup is stuck with those red bars.

Im very excited about the SCH U-940. Not sure why, but its projected to come out following the holiday season. Maybe they just want to clean up the bugs then promote it hard in late 2008.
Either way I just got a Voyager and will probably discard it in favor of trying the SCH U-940. Thats a lot of coin, yes, but the specs dont lie:
