LG Venus details get fleshed out
We already had a pretty good idea of what LG's Venus slider handset would look like, but the folks at phoneArena have now fleshed out a few more of the phone's details, including word on pricing and availability. As we knew before, the phone sports a pair of screens on its face, which phoneArena has now clarified will be a 2-inch QVGA display up top, and a 1.49-inch, 176 x 240 touchscreen below. The site also got word that the phone will be a bit taller and wider than the VX8550 Chocolate, but not as thick, and that it'll be available in black or pink. If that's enough to sway you in its favor, you'll be able to get your hands on one on November 19th for $199 -- after a $50 rebate and a two-year contract, that is.

What an intelligent, well rounded, and most of all mature reply backed up with a lot of hard facts and profound analysis. I am in awe, well done my good sir. No go pat yourself on the back and bow to the AT&T death-star logo poster on your wall. You earned it.

thejfed's wonderful insight aside, the UI on these phones is actually quite nice. Easy to use and to learn if you are new to it. I am fielding questions about these phones left and right all day... there is a LOT of interest in these phones.

The phone's very nice looking. And no trace of the Red UI. Good job on this one. Also, just double-checking here, there's haptic or some sort of tactile feedback, right?

BTW, your sarcastic reply to thejfed was funny as hell. You've got points in my book.
elgee02 @ Oct 31st 2007 9:42PM
Yes, it will have haptic feedback. I am also glad that red is pretty much eradicated from the VZW UI now... I hated that too.

What happened to the Pearl 2? Why is there a release date and pricing details for the Venus, but no such info on the VZW Pearl? I thought it was launching first? I'm new to the whole "Verizon prefers to keep its customers in the dark" thing...
elgee02 @ Oct 31st 2007 8:10PM
Nov 8, $299.99 pre-rabate with 2yr contract. Happy?
AFenn @ Oct 31st 2007 8:18PM
...November 1st would have been better, but yes, I'm happy now. Thanks.

The venus nor the voyager is a fit for me however, thejfed comments are just sad. He reminds me of the little kid on the playground that had the "know all" attitude until someone closed that mouth for him then he went crying to the teacher! lol... I feel VZW is putting a real effort in updating their phone lineup, but to peeps like jfed the "GodPhone" would not be good enough.. lol...

These phones aren't to bad its just the Verizon UI that seems to ruin them for me. On the other hand i wish Verizon would pick of the HTC Touch that would be a sweet phone to own.
techie14 @ Oct 31st 2007 10:04PM
Just a question. What could Verizon possible be "Testing" (crippling phones, adding VCast) that takes so long for a phone to come out. I have Verizon and the Voyager seems like a nice phone, but as a customer I'm tired of being kicked around and told it's the Network. I'm either getting the Tilt or iphone. Any ideas which is better (and please don't tell me the Voyager is the iphone killer)?
jaredatl @ Oct 31st 2007 10:13PM
Have you looked at the Samsung F700? It's coming to VZW as the U940... Specs are really nice. But as for the Tilt vs iphone, for sure the Tilt!
chicooo23 @ Oct 31st 2007 10:32PM
If your interested in looks and nice overall phone with at&t then iphone if your more business and office person then the tilt. You know I really don't care about UI and how crippled it can be. I gave a person a vzw phone and an at&t just basic phone and the vzw was easier to navigate through it. I personally prefer the easy to understand vzw UI. it gets old but its about what people understand more and whats easier for them u don't like it then stay away from big red. I personally dot care and ill use whats easiest for me. This phone decent looking. IM looking forward for the voyager though. I cant say its the iphone killer because I dont know but at this point the only thing that can potentially come close to an iphone and that depends on how much work is put into it if there is any is the Gphone,, possible form google. maybe its a rumor or not but just get what best suits you if you don't like it go somewhere else.
kisti @ Jan 18th 2008 1:56AM
I'm sure that you don't care then why to stay away from big red. Why did you pick it up in the first place, if you don't like it.All phones seem tough to figure out at the begining, then after a while they seem to work all the same. Allthough the Iphone seems to have features you just can't find on others. Also seem more in detail too so it may not be easier me maybe for you,I see then it is easier if you know your guide book.
