Pantech Duo gets handled, one of four new phones showing up on AT&T
So the Duo's finally starting to land in stores (as is the LG CU515, we're hearing), and Boy Genius Report has wasted precisely zero time to check it out. It sounds like everything's just fine and dandy from the initial impression -- it turns out you can't slide out both the numeric and QWERTY keyboards at the same time like you can with the dummy units, but we're not too sure why you'd want to do that anyway. Oh, and if the Duo isn't to your liking, hang tight; we're hearing that the Q9 Global has starting shipping to stores (the Samsung A737, too), so they should be showing up any day now.

Why Engadget... because it looks cool. Looks like a Swiss Pocket Knife Phone lol.

Duo keyboards?!?!?!?! This is the most ridiculous invetion I have ever heard of!!!!! You all read have the number keys on the qwerty keyboard!!!!! What more do you need?!?!?!?! This is Pantech trying to be different, yet punishing that phone with horrible looks.
Poor phone! They made it so ugly with that unnecessary numeric kepad!!!!!
Just hitious!!!!!

You know some people prefer numeric pads separate from thumbboards because its more convenient.

Yeah, what's wrong with on screen numeric input (like on almost every touch screen smartphone) and a qwerty keyboard for messaging. It would make that thing a hell of a lot thinner....
And the fact that that thing doesn't have WiFi, and has a shitty camera, I think i'll go for the tilt thank you
Stalin Acosta @ Oct 27th 2007 11:15AM
Dual keyboard? Sounds good. I understand that the 8525 and the tilt already have a numeric keypad together with the keyboard, but it is a little, and I say, a little difficult to dial either using the screen or the keyboard.
Pantech, nice approach, can you add WIFI and make it thinner.
bob.autrey @ Oct 26th 2007 5:07PM
Yes. It is handy. Ask anyone who's tried (8595 and Tilt users) to dial a number from the horizontal keyboard. A regular dial pad is nice. However, I have to agree with the poster who commented that this device is hideous. They should have made it look more like the Ocean.

Can someone who has seen the device in person, please go and take ruler and let people know what the real dimensions of this phone are? There has much debate as to how big this thing actually is. Thanks!

I just bought this phone 2 weeks ago. the design is hands down the best smartphone in the market. However, the sound is the worst i have ever had. It constantly sounds like the person on the other end is muffled. This was the easy part for them to get right and they blew it. It is hard to believe they spent this much money designing a phone only to put a 5 cent ear speaker in the device. I have also checked forums and this is a common complaint of everyone.
