With the availability of that TouchPal on-screen keyboard, touch-screen WinMo devices suddenly look very attractive (or, more attractive to some people). I actually got to try one of these (unlocked) with the TouchPal today, and it works great. The only thing left to fix is all the tiny menu selections and buttons in Windows Mobile. A LOT of those still need a stylus, even on the Touch. With demand for the device this high from carriers, HTC is definitely working on getting their TouchFLO devices past WinMo's deficiencies.

I'm saddened that I'm the guy who comments on *every* *single* *post* involving Canadian carriers about how data plans here suck. But here goes.
Being poked in the eye with a sharp stick is much more preferable compared to getting a data plan in Canada. So practically no one cares about what gets released in Canada.

I actually wrote government bodies about the sad state of Canadian flat rate wireless Internet, and have tried various other venues. It seems pretty hopeless. With Rogers owning Fido, there's no real competition in this country for real Wireless, like every other country has.

exactly at what point did telus outdo rogers in the hardware market? where is the 6800? rogers has the tytn. where is the music phones from nokia and sony? please think before you write such idiotic trash. telus has just officially entered a war it now can not win even if rev.b succeeds. hsdpa is here and 90 percent of all 3g hardware will work only on rogers and fido. i wonder if bell is regretting not jumping ship and joining gsm, i am sure they are thinking about it.

The problem with the Touch in Nova Scotia is two fold! First off, it's a tri-band phone wihtout the GSM 850 Band, which is what Rogers uses in Nova Scotia and secondly, 3G doesn't exist in Nova Scotia until late february. It's like living in a desert...with a boat.

Telus mobility is spying on it's customer computers who are buying music online from Telus, without being informed.
if you have a LG8100 and upgrade the phone software version, most probably the Media player wouldn't work and it is because of Telus system not the LG.

The Rogers touch has 850 and 1900 (as does every other GSM Touch in the world, even though the 850 is not on the spec sheet).
As for 3g, the Rogers Touch won't have it either, just good old EDGE, which you do have in NS. The good news about the Rogers version is that it will have 128mb RAM/256mb flash, double the capacity of the non-Rogers GSM Touch units, which solves one of the big weak points of the original Touch.

Croak - I just received my new Touch (GSM/GPRS/EDGE Tri-band 900, 1800, 1900) today and it doesn't see the Rogers network. I haven't played around too much yet but I fear the fact it doesn't have 850 is the issue. I didn't know NS only rode on the 850 range, I checked the specs and thought Rogers cross Canada was GSM 850 and 1900. Anyone any suggestions?
