Treo 500v sports a revamped Windows Mobile interface
For all of you fervent Treo fans chomping at the bit to get your hands on the 500v, here's an interesting piece of information which may stir "things" deep inside your mind and body. Apparently, the Windows Mobile-equipped smartphones will be touting a UI that's a pretty big step away from Microsoft's staid and standard operations. According to a slow, yet detailed video we've seen, the new interface will be pulled together using a completely revamped "start menu," (similar to the UI which Samsung is employing on its SGH-i620) which gives you much faster access to applications and settings, and has a completely new look. Menus and application icons also appear to be a departure from what we've seen in other WM devices, giving the interface a wholly unique aspect. Check the video after the break and see for yourself.

This new interface may not be Palm's doing, it may be the new Windows mobile interface that Vodofone is building all of it's WM phones with. I thought I saw another WM phone from Vodofone that used the same interface but I can't seem to find that info. I think it would be great if we (US customers) got the new interface but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't. Any confirmation from Palm if this interface is theirs?

That's exactly what theunwired.net said as well (http://www.theunwired.net/index.php?item=videoview-vodafone-tpp-menu-on-the-palm-treo-500v): Not yet announced by Vodafone, the latest Vodafone branded devices shows a new menu structure called Vodafone TPP (whatever TPP stands for). We have seen the new TPP design earlier when Vodafone unveiled its new, not yet shown Vodafone 920 Windows Mobile smartphone but the recently announced Palm Treo 500v features the TPP menu structure as well.
So what's TPP about? As far as I know, Vodafone plans to unify its upcoming smartphone menus and the menu structure we're seeing on Widows Mobile was just the start."

So what are the chances of the T-Mobile Shadow having this? :D

I'd like to be able to download this interface for my Q, but only if it's fast. If it's anything like Yahoo Go 2.0 (which it happens to look a whole lot like - way to innovate Microsoft!), then I want no part of it. The last thing I need is for the Q to be any slower!

wow that video was painful to watch. i like the interface and i hope microsoft adopts it for all their smartphone but i've heard college professors who are less monotone

Looks like a horizontal version of the old CLIE (2002) vertical scroller interface on the NR70/NX80v, or the current Yahoo Go! interface.
This horizontal scroller wastes a lot of space by having it on top and horizontal. Only Flash mommas would like this.

Could the Vodaphone interface be related to this interface patent from Microsoft?
