Sony Ericsson K850i gets unboxed
Sony Ericsson's K850i candybar is likely going to be the subject of intense scrutiny around here, representing one of the company's first volley of North American 3G handsets -- and, oh yeah, there's that bit about a possible AT&T launch, too. It ain't a smartphone, but the 5 megapixel lens slapped on the back catapults it into high-end territory anyhow -- so we're delighted to see a few finally floating around in retail channels after the phone's June announcement. Boy Genius Report is in the process of putting the K850 through the proverbial ringer; we're digging what we're seeing so far (automatic lens open / close is pretty nifty, we have to admit) but we'll have to wait until we see a full rundown before we start jumping to conclusions. Of course, here's the million-dollar question: is it an N95 killer in the unlocked, US 3G market?

If it takes less than 4 seconds to take a shot (using flash) I'm sold.
I love the N95, but the GPS is virtually useless (takes minutes to load), the talk time is rather poor (though not unworkably so) & the slider's a bit on the wobbly side (I'm waiting for a T5 so I can attempt the "electrical tape" fix).

It's a nice handset, we've had them here in the UK since last week, and working in a phone shop I get to play with them as much as I like! The touch sensitive buttons take a little getting used to but make perfect sense, and the 5 megapixel camera is just what the doctor ordered! Also, the tilt sensor and new media player are worthy additions, and bring the phone in to line with the PSP/PS3 style of media browsing, which is no bad thing in my mind!

I'm also in the UK and I have a K850 for about a week now. Haven't found any flaws yet.

fantastic phone but does have a slight problem with the large micro SD cards. Sometimes the media player says you have nothing on the card but the file manager will display everything. very strange, but should get fixed with firmware in due time. Would recomend this phone to anyone though.
