No doubt it was the first PDA phone I ever had that worked good on every level. Well, until I joined the ranks of iPhone owners that is.

The iPhone is a great phone, iPod (audio and video), web browser, e-mail device and SMS device (in addition to so much more of course). There's just no comparison to anything else out there on the market. And...a new Treo or the like is going to cost you about the same as the iPhone. Why on earth would you do it?

My only gripe is (no, not the slow EDGE network) the total and complete lack of 3rd party speaker docks and FM transmitters. I know its due to the radio interference, but come on...there's got to be a way. I love my little Griffin iTrip, but it sucks to have to go into Airplane mode to use it.

Kyle

Comments on iPhone report: most owners left Treos, Sidekicks behind

someone give me some information that I am uncertain of, IS the iphone capable for verizon wireless??? Unfortunately the Qualcomm CDMA technology used by Verizon/Sprint is only used in the U.S., Canada, some parts of the Caribbean, and Korea. Everywhere else in the world, the open GSM/GPRS is the mobile phone standard (except Japan which is just different).

Presumably Apple quite reasonably choose to release the iPhone as a GPRS device because that technology is available world-wide - especially in the European market. Why does Europe matter if the iPhone only started being sold there on Friday? The European wireless market is much more dynamic and competitive marketplace than the U.S. balkanized and backward mobile phone arena. By releasing a GPRS iPhone they serve the world market with essentially one device rather than having to have two different technologies for the North American market.

Mobile Mo
