Verizon obviously knows something that neither Alltel or Sprint knows. Its a good thing that we have them protecting the network.
Verizon is a collective waste of skin. With regards to the unmentioned, unreleased and disavowed xv6800, two other providers have had the phone with customers for months. When pressed for reasons of the holdup, the phone is claimed to have "failed testing." What super-secret ultra-sensitive testing is Verizon conducting that a perfectly functional CDMA phone fails? It is ridiculous assertion that insults the intelligence of the company's users.
Verizon has put loads of money into their "Network" which, up until now, has been the best and they have made it known. However, Sprint and AT&T are catching up and Alltel already uses Verizon's network. This incessant loyalty to "the Network" is going to get Verizon nowhere fast if they cannot back up their network with adequate phones to satisfy their user base. While it is laughable to Verizon to care about the singular users on a blog or board threatening to leave (or actually leaving) it is well known that the slow drip of water eventually erodes the boulder. Verizon would be well suited to at least catch up with its competitors and not gives its users a reason to leave. At this point, there are plenty of areas of the US where AT&T and Sprint have equal or better network service; once people learn that fact, Verizon will not have much to retain its users, especially if they are extorting large service from its customer base for use of the almighty "Network."
