Verizon announces Motorola Z6tv for October 5 launch
Verizon's finally ready to expand its two-strong VCAST TV lineup -- currently composed of the Samsung u620 and LG VX9400 -- to a third device, the Z6tv from Motorola. Supporting Verizon's MediaFLO-based mobile TV service, the Z6tv takes on a simple slider form factor like its u620 stablemate and features a 2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, support fo VZ Navigator, roughly 50MB of onboard storage (mere scraps, if you ask us) plus microSD expansion, and support for landscape viewing of television, video clips, and the camera viewfinder. Look for it to launch a week from today, October 5, for a penny shy of $180 after $50 rebate.

A TV phone with a 2" screen. Verizon sucks.

Yep, just like a lot of the TV capable phones that Sprint and AT&T have.
Guess they all suck.

I do not know about you, but I'm waiting for the TV Phone with a 42inch 1080p resolution display! Now that'll be a killer handset! But then if it has the Verizon OS, it'll suck. If it's on T-Mobile, it'll suck since people hate T-Mobile. If it's on Sprint, it'll suck since people also hate Sprint. So I guess that leaves me with at&t, but then people hate at&t too, so . . . Ugh, the phone will suck then. Ugh, I hate my life!

elgee02, none of the TV-capable handsets that Sprint and ATT have are dedicated TV handsets, with a special dedicated chip and antenna inside.
JunkNugget, I was hoping for a 3.5" or even 3" display, but a foldable 42" display sounds neat. lol.

I think the real thing to wait for is the Z6c if it even exists. Because I love the styling of this phone, but don't need any of the useless TV crap verizon thinks is so fantastic. And hopefully at that point it will be on a different carrier so flashing the interface will be an option. Otherwise, I'll just stick with my anti verizon GUI Motorola e815.

Z6c is rumored to be coming to Sprint next month or so, don't know about VZW.

Bah. The phone was originally meant to be a straight GSM phone, yet VERIZON of all companies catches it for the first US release? Not to mention that AT&T (then Cingular) were the ones who offered the original ROKR and the updated SLVR. ALSO not to mention one of the biggest updates that come with this phone is the Java/Linux operating system...which will just get SHOT and overwritten by VZW's bastardized generic operating system that will most likely just end up limiting the functionality and the speed of this phone. GOOD JOB.
Bah to Verizon, anda double bah to Motorola on this one.
Also, @ Mark: Are you serious? It's probably coming out for Sprint too?! Seriously, shoot me now.

Patiently waiting

I was just wondering why the display for the VERIZON RIZR is 2.0" 240x320 TFT display with up to 65K colors and the T_MOBILE RIZR is 176 x 220 pixels
265K Colors (18-bit) Is there a huge difference? Which one is a better screen? Why would verizon change the screen? Is it because of the tv aspect?
