Discontented iPhone owner sues AT&T, Apple and Steve Jobs
Rather than simply suing Apple, Steve Jobs or AT&T individually, Dongmei Li decided to throw all three under the bus. The suit, which was reportedly filed this week in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, accused the trio of "price discrimination, underselling, discrimination in rebates, deceptive actions and other wrongdoings for their role in the September 5th price drop on the iPhone." As you'd expect, Li was one of the folks who waited hours on end to be one of the first iPhone owners, and apparently feels quite slighted by the slashing. Purportedly, the plaintiff is hoping to secure "compensatory damages in the amount of $1 million" in addition to other punitive damages, and if you're up for a good laugh, hit the read link to browse through quite a few (more) comical gripes.[Thanks, Mark]

Apparently this man is new to reality. Goods get reduced in price a few months after introduction all the time.

Especially since the 'man' was a female.

I don't get it? How does her mind work? Since when is a company only allowed to drop prices when their stock is doing badly? They could cut the price to 25$ and say "screw you" to everyone who bought one if they wanted to. I really hope the judge makes her pay for all legal fees.

Is this women for real. She chose to buy the iPhone when it came out, and obviously the price would drop over time. Apple has the right to sell the iPhone at what ever price they choose. The phone was originally overpriced due to the huge demand and the willingness of customers to pay the inflated price. Once the sales slowed a little, Apple did the reasonable thing and dropped the price to sell even more. To make it even better for the customers, both Apple and AT&T gave the customers who bought the iPhone between August 22 and September 5, the opportunity to be refunded $200. Anyone who bought the iPhone before August 22 would then be entitled to a $100 Apple gift card. Apple went above and beyond any responsibilities they owed their customers. This women should be grateful and shut the hell up. People like her make our legal system a joke. I hope Apple screws her over. Have a good day.

I bet those legal fees cost much more then the $200 premium she paid for getting it early...

This is what happens when you pander your goods to clueless rich people, lawsuits from clueless rich people.

Stop being a pussy, if at all possible.

What an idiot! That's what you get for waiting in line for a phone, lol!
Steve @ Sep 29th 2007 11:34AM

That lawsuit wouldn't appear to have any merit (imnsho), but even if it does, and the plaintiff prevails, it'll simply be another case of the plaintiff(s) netting a few pennies while the attorneys pocket millions.

That is the price you pay for success in a capitalist society that values a since of victimhood over all. Any time you work hard, bust your ass and put out a decent product, a parasite like this woman and her filthy lawyers want a piece of it.
xo @ Sep 29th 2007 11:24PM
o rly.
i secretly hope she gets countersued for abusing the legal system.
Sirocco @ Sep 29th 2007 11:57PM
All complaints about the price drop are ridiculous. Cars, houses...people "lose" THOUSANDS for such purchases. Markets change, and prices are at the discretion of the seller. It's that simple.
Cris @ Sep 30th 2007 3:28PM
One word...extortion. Well I hope that all 3 sue her for the leagel fees.
Razz @ Oct 2nd 2007 1:46PM
Oh wait a minute, so in some way she is implying that anytime a price drops on anything, the consumer has the right to take the company to court. With that logic, I could be a millionaire by now. All the clothes, hardware, software, electronic stuff that I have ever bought have dropped their price 10 times over, so I am liable to who knows how much money.
This is ridicules. Who told her to stand in line for hours and buy the phone at that price? Thats because she wanted to show off to here friends, that she could afford a ridiculously overpriced phone. She shouldnt get a dime. In fact if I was the owner of Apple I would counter sue her for frivolous lawsuit. This is so stupid. It shouldnt even be in the news.
