Tilt, Duo, Inferno, and Q9h to blow out AT&T's October?
These are all devices we know folks have been waiting for, so we're delighted to finally hear some whipsers that launch windows are being put in place. First up, the AT&T Tilt -- alias 8925, alias Kaiser -- is rumored to be priced at $299 on a two-year or $374 on a one-year agreement. The Pantech Duo, which Amazon jumped the gun on over the weekend, will be launching for $199 on a two-year, which makes the Amazon pricing a bargain already. The Nokia 6555 "Inferno" gets priced at $49.99 on contract -- a steal for a sharp lookin' 3G flip, we figure. Last but not least, the Motorola Q9 global finally materializes for a cool $299, putting it head to head with the Tilt. All four of these are supposedly scheduled for shipment to stores on October 1, making for a very interesting month. Everyone know which of the four they're choosing yet?[Thanks, Amy K.]

Nando @ Sep 11th 2007 3:16PM
FUCKING DAMN!! When's T-Mobile going to get in on all of this cool action?!!!
Steevoh @ Sep 11th 2007 3:51PM
Grrrrrr.....I was just about to re-up my Sprint contract thru retentions and get the Mogul for free (hopefully)....
Now what am I to do? Am I willing to sacrifice my beloved Sprintspeed and jump on that crappy EDGE network, all for the love of Kaiser?
hmmmmmmm....
derX @ Sep 11th 2007 4:08PM
.....Kaiser= connectivity maven= GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPDA/WiFi....yeah, you are totally limited to just "that crappy EDGE network."
-----
Maybe you should stick to the FireFly, so, you know, you don't get confused and work your way from there. Who knows, in a year or two, you might be able to own a RAZR.....might.
BTW, just jokin' about that last part, but, dude, seriously, c'mon!
Nothin' personal!
fyreblazer @ Sep 11th 2007 3:51PM
Oh I've been dreaming of the Tilt for a while now.
Dustin @ Sep 11th 2007 3:54PM
mmm... Duo goodness, and to think I almost bought an iPhone last night
Me @ Sep 11th 2007 4:00PM
8925 for $299. Damn right!!! :P
VZW25 @ Sep 11th 2007 4:22PM
Dude, where have you people been? VZW's coming out with 15 phones by the end of the year.
derX @ Sep 11th 2007 4:52PM
Where have we been, you ask: patiently waiting....for MONTHS.
kurt @ Sep 11th 2007 4:24PM
my local att store said the c810 and the 8925 are launching sept 18.
Dax @ Sep 11th 2007 4:27PM
After buying the iPhone, other handsets seem so boring and tacky!!
Mark @ Sep 11th 2007 4:44PM
Gotta stave off that buyer's remorse eh, so you're trying to put down the other phones. Won't work.
Big Sam @ Sep 11th 2007 4:36PM
I'm all over the Tilt. I hope they left the GPS in.
ashah19 @ Sep 11th 2007 4:38PM
I thought at&t only gave out 2-year contract. how do you get 1 year contract?
Will @ Sep 11th 2007 7:47PM
we've always had 1yr contracts, you just pay $75 more for the phone
gblandon @ Sep 11th 2007 4:53PM
Definitely the Q9h. I'm counting down the seconds for it to come out on AT&T so that I can finally ditch Verizon and the cripple-phone they forced upon me.
Geoff @ Sep 11th 2007 5:00PM
Yeah, just like the Tilt/Kaiser/Tytn II/8925 was supposed to be released Sept. 3rd...
I'll believe it when I see it.
Paul @ Sep 11th 2007 5:15PM
Well, I have a hard time believing this. Call me crazy but I have seen numerous release dates from many sources and they all turn out to be worthless opinions that lead to more disappointment. Additionally I find it very hard to believe they will introduce their so called "flagship" model (the 8925/tilt) for a mere $299 which is less than the 8525 cost now. Just wondering when AT&T will get it right and announce official release dates. Just my .02 but I think this is just bullshit.
Kunikos @ Sep 12th 2007 12:44PM
I think it's conceivable because the iPhone is the phone everyone wants right now. In order to sell these, they will have to offset it's weight, size, lack of comparable software and storage media out of the box.
Daryll Strauss @ Sep 11th 2007 5:36PM
I'm hoping all those details are right. My 8125 is running long in the tooth, and the 8925 would make a keen replacement. $299 does seem cheap for the 8925, but I guess with the iPhone at $399 that is putting pressure on the pricing.
rami @ Sep 11th 2007 5:43PM
299 with 2 year for the kaiser... somethings definitely wrong with that...
they must of removed something other than the forward facing camera!
derX @ Sep 11th 2007 6:12PM
Dude, for that amount, I'm guessing they removed more than the front-facing camera. Hell, for $300, let's hope they give us buttons.
Mike YJM @ Sep 11th 2007 7:31PM
Yeah the $299 price does seem awfully low considering the 8525 is still $450 for 2 years. I'll hold onto hope a little bit, but I'm expecting a higher price than that.
Will @ Sep 11th 2007 7:44PM
the 8525 is $299 AFTER rebates, i'm assuming that's what they mean with the 8925...it will probably be 450-500 up front and then make you mail in rebates only if you get the data plans
deano.public @ Sep 11th 2007 7:24PM
VZW Releasing 15 phones by the end of the year? Too bad most of them are phones that others have already released months ago (XV-6800, XV-5800), have ridiculously uncool and un-buzz-worthy names (XV-6800, XV-5800) and are models already replaced by newer ones (XV-6800).
VZW just sucks. Too bad for me AT&T just can't seem to get a tower to cover my house. Also in the SF Bay Area, 9 times out of 10 I get signal when AT&T people don't.
So I am slave to their "well tested" (read: 6 months late to market) phones.
derX @ Sep 11th 2007 10:48PM
"Well-tested"..... I like that a lot.
Yeah, VZW isn't slow to release phones, it's just meticulous about its products, they must be sure that their phones are perfect before they get into the public's hand....which explains the quality of the Moto V710 and the Moto V3c.
....now that I think of it, AT&T/Cingular/America's #1 Cell Phone Company and Exemplar of Corporate Schizophrenia's Motorola Mpx220 also were of the same quality of the aforementioned VZW Motos. This may be unrelated, but are they seeing a pattern here?
-----
Yeah, not like there was a question in my mind before but, seeing how the Q9h and Tilt are the same price, I now have more of a reason to get the latter.
matthew @ Sep 11th 2007 9:26PM
Kaiser at $299 is complete misinformation. If it were true though, I would gladly buy 3 :)
Richard @ Sep 11th 2007 9:29PM
Nah,
I think that the iPoop is putting downward pressure on the price or HTC it pushing ATT to get the Kaiser (Tilt) into the "road" Apple's price segment.
That way folks can see how much more capable the phone is as a communications device than the quickly depreciating Jesusphone.
Nothing against Apple, Jobs or Jesus.
djaladin @ Sep 12th 2007 7:58AM
I've always thought the $299.99 price tag on the Kaiser/Tilt was a bit optimistic. Now the question is... will AT&T actually try to put the phone out at that price since some people are expecting it?
Then again, when the Blackjack was released, I never thought it would be below $199.99 (which it is definitely worth), yet it's been as low as 75 bucks at one point!
I don't care what the price is (within reason), my 8525 WILL be replaced by the Kaiser.
SES21 @ Sep 16th 2007 12:35AM
Someone's definitely thinking optimisticly somewhere when you consider AT&T is currently trying to sell the RAZR2 V9 at that same $299 price point!
Jeff B @ Sep 12th 2007 11:32AM
Here is the link to the Motorola Q Global (as it is called by AT&T).
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/motoqglobal/
ppcmd @ Sep 12th 2007 4:14PM
I will be there on the day its out to jump ship. I'm done with crippled phones and Verizon. The Q Global offers more than Verizon lame Q9m with weak specs and crippled features. Two phones and ETF, I don't care.
elgee02 @ Sep 16th 2007 11:23PM
Hmmm, perhaps you could enlighten me with what exactly is "crippled" on the q9m?
ppcmd @ Sep 12th 2007 4:56PM
Nice to see the AT&T Q9 go from Q Q9h to Q9h to Q9 Global to Q Global, talk about marketing bullshit that doesn't make sense.
Duke @ Sep 17th 2007 10:30PM
I can't believe y'all haven't seen this news elsewhere. The reason the 8925 will be down in price is because the contract REQUIRES a subscription to wireless services at $39.99/month. AT&T snags you once again!
Dragondrft23 @ Oct 1st 2007 5:26PM
This isn't why the price is less. AT&T requires Data on Data devices because that is what they are meant for. Why buy a phone like that and not use full HTMl, and internet functionality.
The Tilt is less because of competition with the iPhone for sure, it comes with o, 1 or 2 cameras. WiFi, GPS, Mobi 6 upgradable to Pro, capable of 4gb MicroSDHC out of the box. And with the Duo (whic I got to play with today) priced less...it cannot be that much more.
Bill @ Sep 25th 2007 2:05PM
If AT&T sales the TILT without all the functions of the TYTN II I will buy the TYTN II and it will also be unlocked. Contracts suck, after all it has wifi and you can always find free wifi at the coffee shops or hotel, airport. Power to the unlocked cell phone
