Quake ported to select Nokia Series 60 handsets

Some gaming fun that isn't N-Gage has appeared for our S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 friends today, Quake is here and judging by the vid, is looking great. User ohinkka over at allaboutsymbian.com forums has posted the goodies -- including the source -- for any die hard fans to get their hands on and all ya need to get it going is the data files from the original game. While we doubt the controls are fantastic out the gate, if nothing else, the novelty factor will be enough to see this installed on a pile of handsets. So now if somebody can get the multiplayer working, we're in for a treat for sure. Continue reading to see the vid of the game in action.

The first public release of this was a few months ago, but it was more proof-of-concept than usable gameplay. If this youtube's to be believed, they've come a long way. Have to clear out some snes roms and load up the ol' N73...

n73 is S60 3rd ie not S60 3rd FP1, which the article implies it requires.
Let us know if it works, since I'd like to try it on my 3250 (also S60 3rd).

My favorite thing about quake back then was Quake Fortress... The whole Capture the flag bit... Wait... or was that Doom Fortress... I do not remember anymore. So long ago.

Chump went to easy skill...

But does it play doom?
Sorry, had to be that guy. At least it's semi-relevant now.

Doom is an older game than Quake and is already available on series 60. I've tried both and this Quake is better/amazing.

I take it you don't get the reference...?

"the novelty factor will be enough to see this installed on a pile of handsets"
Except it's been running on Motorola Linux-phones since 2005. It was initially ported to the E680, which pretty much means it can run on the whole Linux E-series. Just as unplayable as on the N95 ergonomics-wise, though. Which is why it won't be installed on a "pile of handsets".

does it use the 3d hardware? (that's on n95,e90,n93(i))
i'm too lazy to install it just now
