Hands-on with Samsung's SGH-i620 WM6 slider
It might look a little squat at first glance, but slide her open and the SGH-i620 is ready for business. We had some tactile problems with the touch-sensitive buttons up top, but the scroll wheel is like butter. Like most keyboards, we need some more time with it to give it a fair rating, but at first touch it's certainly passable. The screen seems awkwardly tiny compared to most recent smartphones, but it's certainly sharp and bright. In all the phone is a pleasure to hold and quite small enough to pocket, but we're not quite sure how much we could get done with it -- other than the usual photo snapping that Samsung phones are known for.

Sorry to add this here but....this is what Palm should of done with the treo years ago....maybe get rid or the front buttons for a bigger screen with on screen functions and a hidden qwerty....would be beautiful

Sorry the Treo is known for it's "static keyboard". I don't think Palm is gutsy enough to sway. Which is fine but they need to get rid of the square screen. This is what they should have done 3yrs ago.

Looks like a lot of wasted space on the front. I think I would have rather had more screen space as opposed to giving the buttons lots of shoulder room. Meh...

I lean toward the black version of this. especially if they are going with the shiny keyboard backplate business.
I currently own a blackjack, and this is the obvious successor. It is a beautiful device, the scroll wheel will be nice, but it will have to have more memory and wifi to get me to drop the extra dough to upgrade. (I just upgraded in April, so i have a ways to go yet).

More details please!
So how/what exactly are those 'tactile' buttons up front. Given that they are the most pressed (the green call button, the menus), are they soft/film plastic or do they depress at all? No feedback at all?
Also, how exactly does the scroll wheel work: does it only go left/right or can it also be pressed up-down-left-right like an ipod's?
What about thickness, 16mm seems like a lot these days? A side to side with, say, a 600 or a T-Mobile Dash would be nice.
Am trying to decide whether to wait for this or convert over to the new sexy Blackberry 8310, which I've just decided has the best mobile QWERTY keyboard I've ever laid my digits on.
