Mog, I've now read the article you have referred to. They actually state the dimensions as 107 x 55 x 16.5 mm and a weight of 120 g, which is thicker and a bit heavier than the original Touch.
I don't think removing WiFi will do that much to the thickness. After all, the WiFi chip is already integrated in the chipset used and the antenna needed shouldn't be that big. After all Samsung P520 has WiFi and is only 8.9 mm thick (and pretty d*mn small overall). The slider mechanism should on the other hand make it thicker. My guess is that the operator have requested that it should be removed. Let's hope it's included in the official HTC version of this handset.
