I've been talking to our business rep at Alltel for a while. He's been telling me for a while that this would be released with WM5, but WM6 would be available as a free download within a month. We'll see though as I had the first rev of the 6600 and I was promised a firmware upgrade almost immediately, but then that took about three months.

So is this thing going to make me return to ppc's? Will it be a good phone as well? I have come to "like" the Q OK, but i'm thinking i'm still a touchscreen person and am watching the horizon......as well as Verizon (the True Nickle and Dime company).

I just picked mine up on Thursday and I am having some minor issues when connecting to Vista, but XP and the Missing Sync work wonders :)
Can't wait for WM6 to land on this device for Alltel... as much as they are late, they do have very reliable service and stability when they release devices :)

I just picked up mine today. It's WM5, but its a nice upgrade still from my PPC6700. I hope the WM6 release within a month is true

I just picked one up last night after getting back into town. It's pretty sweet, but I'm having some issues with bluetooth and tethering (over either bluetooth or usb). We'll see if I can't get it resolved this weekend before I head back out tuesday.

I am looking at this phone with serious intent as I am an alltel customer. Does this phone have the same specs as the Mogul PPC 6800 on sprints network? I know it is using WM 5.0 instead of 6.0, but is that the only upgrade I should concern myself with? I would like this only if it is the power house that it is for sprint. Also, does it still have the Wi-Fi capability?

Just picked mine up this morning and all I can say is...wow. Great upgrade from my RAZR V3M. The browsing speed on it is great. Well...off to download some goodies. Cheers!

I bought it yesterday, and let me say this phone is possibly one of the biggest pains in the asses I have ever dealt with. There is so much capability yet no way to know how to use it as the user guide is maybe all of 30 pages long and useless. I have been fiddling nonstop with it and still an unsure how to do anything with it. It is a nice phone, but its a major pain.

I have been using this phone for about two weeks now. I really don't have any complaints about it at all. It is loaded to the teeth with ability, but as one said before, it can be a pain in the butt. It took me several hours to figure it all out, but now it's pretty easy. One thing I like about it, is the ease with which one can change SDCards. The place where they plug-in, is in the bottom of the deck, and is spring loaded, just release one, and put a new one in. Watch out the first time you use it, it might fly across the room like mine did. The spring is pretty strong! Since I have several ram modules, I file what I want on each one so it doesn't take a lot of time to find what I want, since they are so easy to interchange. There is a cradle that plugs into a USB port on your desktop, or laptop. It can be used to sync your files, work as a modem for a laptop, and all while recharging itself off the USB.
The keys on the keyboard are small, of course, but once you get used to them, and figure out where everything is, and how it works, its very efficient. The screen is very well lit, but it tends to wash out, in bright sunlight, but then who stands in the bright sun and types on a smartphone, anyway, unless one is in the desert.
There is lots to like about this system, I came over to this from a Razer, so its been a big jump for me. Still it was made much easier because it is Windows based, and if one has a good understanding of windows, then it's pretty easy. Microsoft seems to have a fairly good support system in place for mobile as well. Alltel also has good support, with short wait times, if any.
I know it has made my day to day workload much easier, and I have just about anything I want, literally, at my finger tips.

The Windows Mobile 6 upgrade is out and available on HTC's website (support downloads for Alltel devices). This seems to be a bit more stable than the WM5 version and seems to have been worth the wait. I saw a post earlier about GPS, and according to my sources, all the companies are waiting for something to come from HTC to enable that support... I guess now it's a waiting game to see who gets it first.

I have paid for the HTC 6800 and I was anticipating it's delivery Monday or Tuesday...now Alltel has told me that it is on back-order indefinitely because according to them "they do not want to flood the market". What the heck??! Why advertise a phone that you don't want consumers to have yet you still take the money for it???? Obviously, none of you had this issue b/c you all have your phone but has anyone else heard this madness?? I WANT MY PHONE!!!!!!!! They sure did not hesitate taking the money for it!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have a Palm 700wx...It sucked and since my 30 days wasn't up, Alltel is sending me a free 6800. I'm psyched! The 700wx is the worst PPC I've ever owned. Too many problems.

Tommy, please let me know when you receive your 6800. Supposedly, they are on back order indefinitely. Apperently they underestimated the amount of demand for this product. Thanks!

I ordered the 6800 from alltel last Tuesday (10/2) and when it did not arrive when scheduled called in to find that it was on back order and they will not let me cancel the order. The worst part is that I now know that the phone is available at one of the local Alltel stores and they will not let me cancel the order and purchase it at the store. Alltel customer service sucks!!! How can they get away with taking your money, putting you under contract, and then not providing anything?

I just ordered mine offline somewhere. it will be here in two days. It was $20 more than Alltel has it listed for but no contract to sign. so if it sux i can drop Alltel, sell the phone, and go to At&t and get an iphone.
