Verizon intros Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U EV-DO Rev A USB modem
BroadbandAccess customers, meet Sierra Wireless' AirCard 595U EV-DO Rev A USB modem, which is (almost) finally available to you through Verizon Wireless. Designed for use with your USB port, this EV-DO Rev A modem can also be connected through the included docking cradle, and even comes bundled with VZAccess Manager software. Additionally, the device boasts an internal, removable battery to "ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements," and should be available for those interested on August 30th for $179.99 -- after you mail back a pesky rebate and sign your name to a two-year agreement, that is.

Odd that the VZ Access software with this new card wouldn't include OS X capability when every other VZW PC card's VZ Access software does... hmmm
But I like cradle, and the removable battery in an interesting option. Seems a bit pricey though, perhaps it will drop after a while.
The current USB720 has been the hottest PC card since it came out. Would suck to get a PCMCIA data card on a 2 yr agreement, then 6 months down the road you get a new laptop and it only has an express card slot... makes the USB cards all the more popular seing how USB slots are all over just about every single computer these days.

funny, sprint has carried this for a while and you can get it at just 79.99 after the mail in rebate

I checked the website and the Sprint one doesn't metion anything about being included with the cradle or the removable batter option.
It could be there, but the website doesn't mention it.

@elgee02:
I have the Sprint version of this, it does indeed include the cradle and removable battery...
Also, You can get software directly from Sierra Wireless that'll make this beauty work on mac... I'm using it right now on a powerbook g4... Here's the sprint site that provides instructions. The mac version of the connection software is from sierra wireless directly, so it /should/ work with this one but ymmv...

Just ordered the 595U from verizon and they match the $79.99 price on a 2 year contract but only through business account. Otherwise it's $179.99 with a 2 year

I have this card for sprint, and the one drawback is that there is only 1 router that supports it, and it costs $300 but it also drains the battery in 80 minutes so you also have to buy a powered USB hub. If you don't want to share the connection wirelessly then Id say its a nice modem, although its better on Sprints unlimited plan probably if you can get EVDO REV A in your area through them.
