A tipster has slipped us details on a couple upcoming models destined for US shores out of Samsung -- not to say that's even remotely out of the ordinary -- but in this case, one's 3G (which always catches our attention) and one's... well, funny looking. First up is the A517,
yet another midrange 3G flip for AT&T that rocks UMTS, a 1.3 megapixel cam, a microSD slot, and music support along with touch-sensitive controls underneath the front side's reflective surface. Meanwhile the T539 for T-Mobile smacks of the
E236 -- complete with that crazy green ring up top -- featuring quadband GSM, a 1.3 megapixel cam, and 220 x 176 display. No word on release date or pricing just yet.

When is AT&T going to start getting some of these cooler phones too? It seems they picked the least desireable phones from both Sony (Ericsson) and Nokia.

Um, AT&T did get the cooler one. The one with 3G and a design that's actually attractive.
And at least AT&T gets SOME Sony Ericsson phones.

That 3G for Cingular is looking like a good midrange phone. Doesn't it seem like Samsung only releases phones that compete with each other. I mean, this phone will compete with the Sync, a717, a727, and the MotoRAZR v3xx (okay, *one* non-Samsung). Hell, but it's another phone; the more, the merrier!

BTW, I'm lovin' the T539's LED lights. It's very v600-esque.

Samsung releases a large number and variety of phones to cater to all of the needs of the consumers. It may seem like all of the phones appear the same on the outside, but each carriers different functions -- like the video capabilities of the 717 and 727.

"It may seem like all of the phones appear the same on the outside, but each carriers (sic) different functions ..."
Really? Explain some key differences, besides the appearance (which includes the rotating camera), between the a707 and a717.
Samsung phones are designed to look good, but at the end of the day, *most* just are the same gift in different box.
