I WANT to like the Treo. I do love the Palm OS. But the instability issues of Treos means you simply can't count on it to work. Kinda important for a mobile phone, no? So they're going to stuff Garnett into this hideous case?! If Palm wasn't dead before, this should finish them. Although I suppose the Folio could save them......Hahahahahahah!

rseijas

Comments on

I can't believe how far Palm has fallen! They have totally anbandoned their current 700p users and ravaged the device useless with the most current ROM update, but have not delivered a decnt device/os in years and it just keeps getting worse. They just don't seem to care anymore.

I mean come on first the folio, now this crap. With the introduction of the RAZR, a condition of technological bulimia (also known as RAZR syndrome) has emerged; it is making pieces of technology as thin as possible (without regard to the feasibility of said thinness). Palm phones aren't bad, however, in general, they are some ugly things (btw, they really need to start firing the design team ASAP). To get back in the game, they need to make a thin, eye catching 3G device that is affordable--to catch the eye of "regular" cell phone users and to make a version that Engadgetmobile-users would like, perhaps with some WiFi (what, are they scared of it?), and a good camera (I mean, Sony-Ericsson-good).

I hate to see good companies go out of business because this it means working class people loose jobs, but if it continues to make devices that look like *this*, the inevitable will happen.

derX

Comments on

The article at Palm Info Center is a bit misleading. The phone pictured here, looks like it is INCREDIBLY small, like 3/4 the width of a 700p, and slightly shorter. The 800W that they talked about here: http://www.palminfocenter.com/news/9457/new-treo-smartphone-images-leaked/ looks to be much wider and flatter. Perhaps, the former is a low priced, smaller Treo for the consumer crowd (780p perhaps?) and the big boy will be the 800W, full fledged Treo.

Fourbin

Comments on

This is quite disappointing. i hated the 680 because it froze all the time. that keyboard looks totally unusable. the phone actually looks "cute", as if for female clients. i cant imagine businessmen walking around with that thing. or businesswomen either actually. maybe teenage girls would like it.

why is it that the more i look at that thing, the more i keep expecting a tamagotchi to pop up on the screen at any moment? :P

Robbie

Comments on

That thing is hideous. What Palm needs to produce is a design similar to the Blackberry Curve, except with WiFi and Windows Mobile 6.

The Blackberry Curve design with WiFi, a higher-resolution screen, and Windows Mobile 6 (or PalmOS) is what Palm needs to remain competitive.
