Motorola busts out slew of low-end candybars
From our "never have so many handsets collectively interested us so little" department come these six gems, all Moto candybars from the low-end "W" line that are presumably destined primarily for emerging markets. We've yet to see any press releases detailing exactly what Motorola intends to do with these, but the imagery in its media database pretty much says it all; heck, two of the six even have monochrome displays (and no, they aren't e-ink, either). Four of the handsets -- the W156, W160, W175, and W180 -- do at least carry over the F3's wedge-shaped slim design, while the last two, the W206 and W213, look like they're straight outta 2003. We'll pass on this bunch, but if you want to send us a GSM 850 / 1900 MOTOFONE, guys, be our guest!

The MOTOFONE F3 sucks, and there is a 850/1900 version out for Mexico and other third world countries. I'd much rather have a monochrome LCD Screen than the E-Ink display the F3 has, which is barely more developed than a 1980s eight-segment LED display.

Mark - you're right, the MOTOFONE 850 / 1900 reference was poorly worded - I've updated the post. Personally, I think the display's gorgeous on the F3, but different strokes for different folks, I guess!

sigh...my Nokia N72 crapped out on me and im stuck with a W205(same as the w206) till i get a new phone in a few weeks..damn its such a shit phone. Keys suck and I think whoever designed the software on the phone should be fired immediately. I can't even get new sms alerts unless I exit the sms application first.

what is the radio function on the phones all about?
chuck @ Aug 2nd 2007 2:10PM
They, um, have FM radios built-in.

I think I remember seeing these, or something similar, in the AT&T store yesterday afternoon.
Aren't they just made available by Motorola for a cheap alternative cell phone without a contract?
It said $19.99 no commitment on the spec paper in the store.

Why in the heck would they allow Barry Bonds to drive on highway 1 to the park and not the main road? I just don't understand!
