Apple iPhone update 1.0.1 released!

[Thanks, BGR]
Update: Ok, updating took about five or six minutes. Noticing anything specifically? Let us know in comments, we'll list the fixes here (since Apple wasn't courteous enough to tell us what, exactly, it repaired in the device).
Ah, Apple's added the fix / changelog. Noice! Just looks like Safari-related security updates. That's fine and good, now howsabout the constant, mind-popping crashing going on with that app?
Oh, and good news everybody! iFuntastic (v2) still functions with the 1.0.1 update! We tested it, and it worked beautifully.
Also, is it just us or did all these Safari security fixes come along with stability fixes as well? We've never seen mobile Safari perform so admirably with eight full ajaxy pages open as we have since loading up 1.0.1.

Damn, I just returned it!!

Why? It took forever for them to come up with that update and it didn't change anything.

so that killed my iPhone! I had to restore as it said "please connect to itunes"

Same here... and I realized it had nothing to do with my using an iPod dock connector. After I *THOUGHT* everything was in tip-top shape, after it said it had activated with AT&T, I turned it on later and I was presented with the "Please Activate iPhone". Now, every time I plug it into my Mac (without the iPod dock, of course) it just beeps repeatedly, doesn't show up in iTunes, and says "sync in progress". After force restarting it several times, I'm able to use it, though it still beeps repeatedly when I plug it in.
I'm admittedly an iPhone fanboy... waited in line for 4 hours to get this puppy on release day and now I'm quite embarrassed and annoyed.

ARGH... getting an error halfway through the update (0xE8000029, or something). Have to restore the iPhone.
... oh great... iTunes says the iPhone can't be restored (unknown error -50). So now I go from having a state-of-the-art phone to having a $600 brick.

Okay... apparently updating through an iPod dock is not good. I misplaced my iPhone dock during my last move, so I've been using an iPod dock until I find it. It syncs just fine through the iPod dock, but won't update software. I took it out of the dock and plugged in the cable straight, and the software update worked. Apparently the iPod dock is more than simply a passive piece of plastic.

what is it with people trying to use accessories that clearly are not made for the device? Do you put orange juice in your car and expect it to run?
TC @ Aug 1st 2007 10:29AM
pintweaks. I had this issue happen when I tried to restore while my iPhone was sleeping. When I woke it up everything worked fine.

Wow. I never seen people get so happy about getting security updates. Haha. You'll get used to it, then it'll become annoying. The precious iPhone is about to get lambasted with risks. Get used to updates all the time.

"what is it with people trying to use accessories that clearly are not made for the device? Do you put orange juice in your car and expect it to run?"
Oh, please. Thinking the iPod and iPhone docks are merely weighted plastic extension stands for your USB cable connection is not that far a stretch of logic... your orange juice analogy is completely incomparable and ludicrous.

My iPhone took the update without any issues. It took about 5 or 6 minutes (with some dramatic pauses).
