Web-based application manager for iPhone
The gents at ModMyiphone are up to shenanigans again with the release of a web-based application manager for your iPhone. The concept is simple -- and the UI is pretty slick to boot -- hit the site, login, browse and add applications to your profile, and then enjoy the convenience of one-stop web application management. Of course, you could simply use bookmarks to achieve the same effect, but why put in all the effort of finding new and cool things when somebody is willing to do all the leg work for ya? No signs of exploits here folks, so hit the read link to have at it.

Try using that application on an airplane or subway train or in an area of no data or wireless coverage. Then get back to me.

Without network coverage, you wouldn't use safari anyway, much less the app manager. So it's still inherently useful when you know you have a network.

My point is that web applications cannot replace localized third-party applications because they are of no use without the network. The lack of third-party applications with a 4GB or 8GB flash is ridiculious.
I do like how the ModmyiPhone people were able to change the background. Once you can run homebrew apps on it, its not worth $600. Especially since I've made 3 applications which are very useful on my $50 Dash.
I personally would like Remote Desktoping on the iPhone since it has such a large screen but the web-only apps would leave you to depend on a web-based version which most of the time are not as good.

Hey guys, I own ModMyiPhone. If any of you are using this app, we'd love some feedback! Likes, dislikes? We've worked hard to make it the best iPhone app manager out there, and would love to tweak things up a bit if ya'll see necessary.

Works great on EDGE, since it is primarily text.
I've been using this app for about a week now - very solid. The real purpose of it is to not only have a cool way to bookmark iPhone apps but to also easily discover NEW apps. Modmyiphone keeps up with all the new releases and gives you a quick description and user ratings. You can search by category or release date and then just click 'add' to put it in your customized list. This is the best way I've seen to actually find the apps while actually using your iPhone.
Sure you can just bookmark these in the conventional way in Safari (after spending time searching for them) but rather than manage tons of folders of bookmarks I prefer to just keep the special iphone 'apps' in the app.modmyiphone list because they are easier to access and manage. I still use Safari's bookmarks for regular sites.
