Profile confirms Nokia N81 exists
A freshly-posted WAP profile on Nokia's site confirms that an N81 is in the works, but there really isn't much else to go on at this point. What little information exists here seems to corroborate what we'd heard before -- QVGA display, 3G radio, and WiFi -- though it's anybody's guess how true the actual phone will ring to the rendering we've seen. Oh, and yeah, we are bitter that the screen is QVGA, a sad step down from the N80's glorious 416 x 352 example. Why, Nokia, why?[Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog]

Perhaps because they were disappointed that third-party mobile developers showed little interest in producing games and applications for a totally unique screen size?

Thats the thing. Its not unique its exactly Double the screen size of the original series 60's (176x208)

I hope the N81 comes syncML enabled and has a 5 mp camera since these are the only two selling points for me in a cell phone. I dont want to go through the hassle of installing everything manually from my PDA but instead i would rather use OTA method to transfer my contacts, calendar, text messages from a backup service called ZYB(http://zyb.com) which will do it for me for free.

S60 has supported SyncML for a long time. It's what iSync uses for syncing Nokia smartphones.

i was window shopping for a potential repalcement for the n80 (ie) i have. and totally refuse to go down to a lower resolution screen, especially if its physically larger, the resolution has to be as good as if not better..
the n95 IS a cool phone (device/multimedia blah blah, its a phone)but its bulky , eats batteries worse than the 80 and i just cant get over the screen,
As for 3rd party apps, dont most ( ok so most of the one I use) use either the standard interface or svg anyway?
Yes a 5.x Mp camera should be present, should be able to connect, every way thats currently available, and ffs, if its gor IR on there there should be a built in universal controller.
A 2 way slide with qwerty would be neat, err more ram, so you dont see that 'memory full, close stuff and try laters' message..
um and while i'm dreaming can the clock move to between the soft keys where i stick the time bar, can i have one free, also a hot chick in a yellow lamborghini would be nice, and um, fries?

I used to have the N90, which had a similar screen to the N80.
I like the N95 screen much much more. The screen ratio is a natural 4:3 and that's important to me.
I'd like to see next year's models have VGA and WVGA screens. 4:3 is great but 16:9 would be awesome.

The Nokia N81 looks like a nice phone but is it true that it only has a 2MP camera? Surely Nokia can do better than that, the N95 has a 5MP camera, even the N73 has a 3MP camera.
