I thought you said S GPS or stanalone GPS. Assisted GPS depends on the carrier. It's not good

Nokia is just creating navigation business to operators who can start charging
for the A-GPS signal as an service + data transfers. They are also saving couple bucks
with integrated chip instead of sirfIII -chip. None of the operators are currently sending
the signal and if they start, they'll charge it for sure. Go and buy some device with SirfIII -chip
instead.

I believe on the N95 Nokia uses A-GPS to decrease the lock on time for the real GPS chip.

Can you tell me the difference? I have Sprint and my phone has AGPS. It has a GPS chip. But if I go out of the network area i loose signal, including GPS

Monica the Nokia phones involved not only use A-GPS but also have a real GPS chip allowing for GPS coverage even in the Amazon. The A-GPS just helps for a quicker lock but the phone's GPS can be used even out of range of a network signal

Not true... The Nokia A-GPS service not dependant on the operator. Nokia uses their own SUPL server (supl.nokia.com).

They mostly use AGPS to get quick fixes. A friend of mine has the 6110 Navigator and its GPS cold starts in matter of seconds where as with N95's earlier firmware getting the fix can take hideously long.
