Maybe it was
Verizon's most recent in-court request to stop serving up costly airwaves for which it couldn't pay, maybe it was the cold reality that it'll allegedly have a mere $9,000 in the bank as of next Monday -- but at any rate, Amp'd Mobile appears ready to throw in the towel. The Verizon-serviced MVNO today filed with a bankruptcy judge to sell substantially all of its assets at auction after discovering that it was unable to line up debtor-in-possession financing, likely setting the stage for a full shutdown in the next few days. After
launching less than two years ago to considerable fanfare and burning through a healthy $360 million, it's pretty shocking to see it all go down with such a whimper -- but hey, if you're looking to pick up a
Q on the cheap -- that may or may not work on any other network, that is -- this may just be your chance.

Actually, it really sucks to see it go. I was sort of hoping that they could secure additional funding & put some pressure on the big guys ever if they only ended up with a 5% market share. Its sad because that means less free market & more excuses for awful billing & poor customer service from the big guys. ~~Sigh...

I really hope they are done with. I work at best buy and their dealer/customer support is non exsistant.Waiting on hold for hours is pretty sad, and half of their phones don't work right. The phone selection sucks too. today was like christmas when they told us we arent selling ampd mobile anymore and to take everything ampd mobile and send it back.

This is a blessing. As a BBY employee, I hated it. Customer service wait times routinely over 30 minutes, ridiculous credit requirements, defective equipment, and an awful attract loop made this a horrible service. BBY just announced today that they would stop carrying it immediately. I was extremely happy to remove the fixture, as was everyone else. And as for them having state of the art phones, a cheap-quality Kyocera and a RAZR aren't that great, as well as a phone that when it came out was very high-end (E815).
