PQ Computing Inc. releases free iPhone activator
Well finally, iPhone activation made easy -- and free, we can barely believe it -- by the fine people at PQ Computing Inc. We know DVD Jon's solution works a treat, but some folks had issues with the HEX edits required on the iTunes executable and others reported no success at all. While branded as an "iPhone Unlock Toolkit," all this little gem does is activate the handset's iPod and other features without need for any AT&T plan. Download, run, and easy peasy lemon squeezy, your iPhone is activated -- though it is Windows only at the moment, Mac is labeled as coming soon. Does this mean the features are unlocked or that the GSM side of the device, say T-Mobile usage, is unlocked?

I wondered the same. However, from PQDVD website, it only says "One click to unlock your iPhone. Use your iPhone as an iPod and PDA without signing up AT&T service."
So, does it unlock the iPod and PDA features only? Or does it unlock iPod AND OTHER features (what are the other features anyway)?

I believe this means you CAN NOT use the unlocked iPhone as a phone. Just a PDA, iPod, etc. So it becomes an expensive, if very nice PMP/PDA. Just not a phone. :-(

The one click activation tool works great i just tried it on my 8 gb iphone, cut the guys some slack, even if they did steal dvd johns idea, there was a lot of effort required to make it one click, DVD johns method was confusing. Good JOb PQDVD!!!!

apparently, in order to avoid the AT&T lawyers and their threats, one of the guys have uploaded the iphone hack to unlock the iPhones for any sim card at mobdown.com but apparently they are seeking profits from selling it. the video of the unlocked iphone can be seen via youtube but they are pretty low profile to avoid the at&t guys.
