HTC Omni to get HSUPA, 3.1 megapixel cam?
If GPS, a wide VGA display, and mere HSDPA weren't enough to get tongues a-waggin' for HTC's long-overdue Universal successor, it looks like the Omni will be throwing in a few additional goodies to sweeten the pot for its supposed October launch. Notably, pdadb.net sez that the Omni will be rocking a full HSPA implementation -- that's HSDPA plus HSUPA for the lay folk -- plus a 3.1 megapixel cam and LED (what, no xenon?) flash. If we had our druthers, we'd like to see a 5 megapixel autofocus behemoth in there, but you know, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I hope that's smaller than the DS it looks like

Wow, that's actually a really good looking phone. I'm not a huge fan of the smartphones (or more specifically, how big they are compared to my amazing Samsing m610) but I might consider buying this. Too bad it only runs Windows...

Sexxxy... but what is that detached portion in the open view?

That's called the side view.

Now that is one hot looking phone...but why waste the space around the screen?
MTM @ Jul 10th 2007 9:57PM
@Matt: I think that's the side view.
@Raj: Maybe there's touch sensitive keys? Would make sense if it has a flip screen like its predecessor HTC Universal.

That thing is HUGE compared other smartphones.
5.1 x 3.25 x 0.6 inches (130 x 81 x15 mm)
It's 1 inch wider AND 1 inch longer than an Apache(without antena)/Kaiser/Mogul.

A. This is Windows Mobile Pocket PC-phone, not a smartphone, correct? Big difference. If you dont know, then go to windows.com and look it up. Of course this would be big for a 'smartphone'... the Kaiser (TyTn 2) would be HUGE for a smartphone as well... but that's why they aren't smartphones.
B. engadget article sts it's the successor to the Universal, not Kaiser or Wizard. The Universal is 5.0 x 3.2 x 1.0 Compare accordingly.
