Dopod Windows Mobile 6 upgrades sighted, dates included

Well lookey what HTC has cooked up for us, a little more Windows Mobile 6 upgrade info for those Dopod owners weary of the oh-so-long in the tooth Windows Mobile 5. Starting July 6th with the Dopod D810 (HTC P3600), then the 838Pro (HTC TyTn) on the 9th, with the U1000 (HTC Advantage) and P800w (P3300) closing out the giving on the 11th and 13th. So, for all you official Dopod owners out there, all you need to do is hit the site, sign up with your device serial number and get at the goods. Don't forget to drop us a line and let us know how those upgrades go.

I'm in the US, using an unlocked TyTN I bought on Ebay. Cingular is my carrier. I can't figure out how to register the device on either the HTC US, or europe websites. My serial number is regected everywhere I try to input it? Any advice?

Are you sure you are using an actual TyTN, and not the 8525?

It was never posted on HTC's Asia website for the P3600 / D810. They are now saying tomorrow.

I think I'll wait until the chefs from xda-developers release an enhanced version of the official htc rom. Props to Sleuth/Dutty/JasJamming/Custel/Shap/3DES

Marty, Yes I'm sure. I dropped my 8525 one too many times and went with the unlocked TyTN savings a couple $100. I got it offof Ebay, which makes me wonder if that has something to do with the fact that none of HTC's sites recognize the serial number.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that you got it off of Ebay. It may have something to do with the fact that you purchased it from a US reseller. My 8525 came refurbished from AT&T and it rejects that sn as well.

Bear in mind that the updates seem to be for Dopod-branded devices. HTC have a database of the IMEIs this will cover, and although your device may be manufactured by HTC, and then rebranded by a carrier, if it isn't a Dopod device, then it's only natural your registration will be rejected. Even though your 8525s are technically the same thing, they're Cingular/AT&T devices, not Dopod.
You'll need to wait for some nice person to post it somewhere more accessible (like me and my T-Mobile MDA Vario 2)...

So, has anyone actually been able to download and install this on their Hermes? If so, can you download the update and post it for the rest of us that are stuck with a branded device?

I was able to install this update on my AT&T 8525 it works great. Nice black dopod theme. It has been pretty stable and very fast the 2 days that I have had it for, also includes a good working version of Live. No bugs until now.
