If your battery goes bad, $79 PLUS $6.95 shipping plus add $29 for a loaner iPhone and you end up paying $114.95 and it will take about 3 business days for the repair.
I think the battery would be covered under warranty just like their ipod batteries and just like their laptop batteries. I think that it would cost the $79 if you are out of warranty.
