HTC Cavalier finally hits FCC
The HTC Excalibur -- better known as the T-Mobile Dash in these parts -- is one of those almost-perfect handsets that has us saying "if only." Specifically, in this case we're thinking "if only it had 3G," and that's precisely where the Cavalier comes riding into our dreams like a phone in shining armor. Thus far no American carrier has stepped forward with plans to offer the Cavalier (AT&T, we're looking straight at you, kid), but at least they can do so now thanks to an FCC approval. With HSDPA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands on board, this sucker is truly a worthy upgrade to the already good Excalibur -- so let's try to speed things right along, yeah?

I don't know if you're aware of it, but T-Mobile Dash already runs on Windows Mobile 6 after the free upgrade!!!

This phone is the BEST smartphone on the market, I have been playing with the Dopod version and it is great. If you think the Dash is anywhere close to this phone, try again. HSDPA and and much faster processor makes it worth the upgrade.

Random question:
About the "antenna plug cap"... what is that antenna for?

Having played with it here in HK where it's been available over a month: it is indeed much nicer to have the faster processor on the Cavalier, my Excalibur felt sluggish at times.
However for some reason (extra electronics?) they had to make it bigger. Not so much in the size specs, which are almost the same, but it is a lot more squarish, whereas the Excalibur had very rounded corners and edges. Overall it feels like one of those Nokia slab-keyboard numbers.
Enough that though I *loved* my (now stolen) Excalibur, I'll wait until HTC figures out how to make the next generation *smaller* instead of bigger (maybe wait until the Samsung i620?).
