iPhones going to "preorders" at some AT&T stores?
Despite the fact that preorders weren't accepted for the iPhone -- at least not in any official capacity -- we've been tipped that at least one possibly unscrupulous AT&T location in Little Rock, Arkansas has told campers that they've already sold out of units. So if there wasn't any preorder, where'd they go? To Premier customers who... um, preordered, allegedly. Folks in line were informed that they were more than welcome to come back this evening and pay for the unit they can't have, at which point they'd be shipped out next week. Something smell fishy here?[Thanks, Kev]

I'd be first on the phone to Apple, complaining. If Apple had asked ATT not to sell them early, I bet heads would roll in that shop. Or at least I'd hope they would.

at&t stores were explicitly told that they were not allowed to take pre-orders on the iPhone. Heads will roll.

AT&T stores got screwed Most stores on had about 100 phones and where out in a half hour. Meanwhile the apple stores had thousands. Went to at&t stood in line they ran out of phones call all the corporate stores in the area no IPHONE went an Apple store, there were hundreds and the was at 8 pm and there was no line.

A lot of iphones showed up on ebay at outrageous prices well before the start of sales, by sellers who claimed (and had photos to prove it) that they already had the phones.
It's worse than preorders. Someone got their hands on phones early and is trying to make a killing. I hope they lose their shirts.
