While nothing official is on the wires, reports from various sources are popping up with jubilant cries of "HSDPA is here!" If you believe everything you hear (and by that token, what we are hearing) it seems users in Ottawa and London Ontario, Montreal Quebec, plus Edmonton and Calgary Alberta are all seeing that fabulous
HSDPA icon on their handsets. Nothing official out of
Rogers Corporate yet, but the word is that bigger centers should be up and running by Q1 2008 with general rollout by end of the year. As always, if you have something to add just drop us a line or hit up the comments section.

I can't resist asking if this is a special type of HSDPA known as "HSDP-eh" ?

I can't wait for this to go National so we have full video calling capabilities.

I live hear (and I hate "eh" so I keep track of it) and I rarely ever hear the term. I wish people would drop it, especially since every joke involving is not longer funny in the slightest.

What part do you live in? I have relatives in Toronto and Edmunton, and they still say it, and yes, it is hilarious to me everytime.

oh it is too still funny, I play hockey with a bunch of Canadian transplants in California and 75% of them say "eh".

I live in rural Ontario. Their are plenty of hockey players and hicks. Not so many eh's. I actually cringe when I hear it.

I still don't get why they are keeping it such a secret and such an expensive thing to get into. Rogers has no real vision (pun intended) behind it. It's taken over 200 days just to get it rolled out in another market, and not even in Vancouver where something like this would catch on with the rich trendy/techy asian crowd. And it has been out for 200 days in GTA and still only one phone which they don't sell at any stores. It's a shame they bought the only GSM competition in the country or else they might actually be on their toes instead of sitting around waiting for the iPhone so everything can play second fiddle.

Noticed the "3G" icon on my HTC X01HT a few days ago while at work. It doesn't stay on long and the strength is only 1 or 2 bar ... but it's a start! I'm in Montreal.

HSDPA whoopie freak'n do...okay listen up...this would be great if data rates were actually reasonable. Who cares for video conference...seriously are you some sort of 13 yr old child that needs to do this...LOSER. Get some real data plans Canada (like our southern "friends"...Get some real competition and maybe we can talk. I'll stick to my wifi in the meantime.

Rogers has two video conferencing phones actually, the Samsung A706 (which is very available) and the HTC Tytn.
Oh, and HSDPA rollout for central ontario is expected for next quarter August 8th. It's actually already been built, and is just waiting for the launch.
