WM6 ROM leaked for Samsung BlackJack
They said it was coming, and by golly, it's finally here. Sorta. Neither Samsung nor AT&T have let an official Windows Mobile 6 update out of the gate for the BlackJack, but it's gotta be mighty close now that an official-looking update has trickled down through the 'nets and into a good number of users' eager hands. I have a few friends who are pretty excited about that.
Tyler Brock @ Jun 3rd 2007 10:33PM
ok so where can i get it? I really want to try this out... can anyone give me a hint
carlo @ Jun 3rd 2007 11:09PM
Chances are for someone who isn't sure where to get it, you'd be best just to wait a moment because you definitely DON'T want to brick your phone. Flashing phones can be VERY tricky and voids your warranty.
Tyler Brock @ Jun 3rd 2007 11:13PM
dude, i'm not retarted, i've flashed other phones millions of times, i just don't know the *usual* places for blackjack roms, sue me
carlo @ Jun 3rd 2007 11:20PM
good luck.
Randy @ Jun 3rd 2007 11:54PM
I can't wait!
Tyler Stevens @ Jun 3rd 2007 11:58PM

this is likely a beta...they were supposed to be testing through late june or july, before releasing the update sometime in mid-3rd quarter
MannyM @ Jun 4th 2007 1:05AM
Ummm click on the read link
extravagant @ Jun 4th 2007 1:12AM
I did read. There is no mention of the i320n so I still can't tell if it will work for sure or not.
extravagant @ Jun 4th 2007 1:00AM
will this ROM update work for the i320N .... will samsung release one for the i320n? thanks.

I ran it, it's very beta, you can switch back to WM5 using the flash on samsungs website. My only issue with it is that it doesn't include the internet sharing application which made it really convenient to connect to the internet, otherwise it's better at key input, slightly better address book and windows mobile office (which you can get for wm5)... A lot of minor improvements/bugs also.
Lily @ Jun 5th 2007 1:23AM
Where is the wm5 restore flash? I can't find it and i'm stuck with wm6 and the internet doesn't work and many bugs i dont' like, not to mention i can't restore my backups.
thanks.

Just read through some of the comments in the forum(blackjackuser.com) and this is what Big Wheezy had to say:
This rom is built specifically for the i607 blackjack, the software and firmware are all packaged together with windows mobile, so no you can't use it on another device unless its hardware is identical to the blackjack (screen, processor etc) and even then it'd be risky if it wasn't exactly the same.
As far as this release, it blows, I really hope this is an earlier beta release and not the finished product. Memory usage/bloat is terrible, holding a key for its alternate symbol doesnt work, it freezes or keys stop working with disturbing regularity. I'll probably be going back to WM5 tonight for and hold out for hopefully a better final release or some updates. The HTML email and slightly improved looks (other than the ugly ass connection type icons, blech) aren't worth it at all. Motorola always had glitchy firmwares, but this one is pretty ugly, my BJ had the original cingular firmware when I got it and I thought it was WAY better than this firmware as far as usability and stability.

Enough said.

It was leaked on AT&T forums. If they didn't want it leaked, they would have stopped it as soon as it went up.
Wildbill @ Sep 27th 2007 10:00PM
I would loce to try the beta, does anyone know.. how about rapidshare?
DiRTyBuNNy @ Jun 6th 2007 1:34PM
Go to http://www.samsung.com/Products/MobilePhones/ATTCingular/SGH_I607ZKACIN.asp and click on the word "Software" and just make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.
btw, I loaded this on my BJ and didn't see to have one problem...oh well...I still can't wait for the real release from Samsung/AT&T.

Installed today. Using Exchange ActiveSync, configured a pop3, surfed the i-net. played around, did this and did that, and it seems stable to me. i like it.
drestbj @ Jun 6th 2007 6:38PM
Oh yeah, on the old wm5 my contacts never synched to my bmw i-drive. With wm6, bluetooth synchs perfectly with my BMW.
Am missing MS VoiceCommand though. That is the only neg so far for me.
BKM @ Jun 7th 2007 6:37PM
Has anyone tried a Bluetooth DUN connection?
kiddo @ Jun 24th 2007 11:15AM
Will this software work with samsung sgh i-300
l8on @ Aug 27th 2007 10:07AM
I installed the update. It's very good IMO. Not as stable as the official will be but I definately dont regret the upgrade.
gallowaystx @ Oct 1st 2007 11:34AM
Cannot seem to run iesharing (internet sharing) on WM6 upgrade. Beyond that I feel as though it is a worthwhile upgrade - does anybody know if/why this was disabled? If I cannot resolve this I will have to go back to WM5 and that would be a bummer.
MTC73 @ Oct 16th 2007 6:44PM
Of course your can't run sharing on the upgrade. It was a crappy beta-ish leak, not the formal release.
Vincent @ Dec 26th 2007 11:29AM
Can someone give me the link to download the WM6 update for my BlackJack?
Thanks so much!
