Verizon to release 8830 on May 28?
There appears to be light at the end of the proverbial dark tunnel for customers of Verizon Wireless -- non-business channel ones, anyway -- who attempt to satisfy their "Crackberry" addiction. Sources suggest that The Network should be ramping up for consumer launch of the globe trottin' BlackBerry 8830 for Monday May 28. Yep, that's only a few short days from now. Better start saving those pennies now, especially at the $400.00 price with a two year contract..[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Actually, I have been told by my VZW Rep that it WILL be May 28th, but the price should be (as described in the Press Release linked to from herre) $199 after $100 rebate and $100 credit (when you subscribe to a voice AND data plan). If you charge it to your account, your out the door price it $299. There are also discounts if you are an employee of many companies. Also, if you know who your BSR is (found on your VZW Extranet if you get the discount) you can order it NOW. Mine just showed up on my doorstep. However, I am now out of town. If there is no "unboxing" posted by then....I will just have to make it so!

i'm not a business user and i have the 8830. many other people have been able to obtain it as well. daniel is also correct about the pricing, it isn't really $399 with a two year contract.

My company just bought several of these and I have already used it in the uk and switzerland and the gsm/gprs voice/data switch over is SEAMLESS! I'm in the UK now and it works like a champ. Voice qulaity is great, data speeds are very responsive. Great product Verizon!

Maybe a dumb question, but...
If Verizon or one of its partners is not available in your traveling country, do you just buy a SIM card from a compatible provider? I am moving to Mexico soon and I want this phone!
