Sprint's PPC-6800 dubbed the Mogul?
It's bad enough that nearly every HTC handset that makes its way into a carrier's lineup inevitably gets rebadged and renamed, but this one's sure to make you scratch your head. Just hours after hearing that the handset is likely to miss its May launch by a few months, we've now caught wind of an interesting teaser site that leaves little doubt about what phone is behind the silhouette. Interestingly, the Sprint, HTC, and Qualcomm sponsored site boldly states that the pictured device is not the PPC-6800, but rather the Mogul. It then continues on by insinuating that this 007-esque gizmo can handle just about any mission you task it with, but fails to provide any concrete information beyond that. Hey, you've got to find some way to keep interests piqued until October, eh?

Seems like they nixed the site pretty much immediately...
Also looks like the Mogul name was trademarked sometime in early April...
And check out ppcgeeks.com or pdaphonehome.com to see the whois results... ;)

We got out rebate forms too, but they actually start May 11th. I haven't seen any sign of them being shipped to the store yet, unlike the 755p (should be in stores tomorrow) but I'm not sure what Sprint's doing here. Maybe they're going to have 2 varients?? One with EVDO rev 0 and mob 5.0, then in Oct bring out the EVDO rev A and mob 6.0???? Who knows....

Funny the images from yesterday don't show up any more. Also my buddy at sprint says it in the POS so if it was more than a month out would it be on the POS? I don't think so.

Hey, I was in a Sprint Store Today (Monday May 14th), and the Store Manager said that he does not know the actual release date but he does have the FACT Tag for the phone in the store and that the price will be around $550.00 retail and about $399.00 under contract (2 Yr). This Store Was In Columbia SC.

Brilliant - a new name that way people won't have to wait fo the 6800 any more. Let's take a big pile of steaming cow dung - shovel it into a box and call it the 'slicker'. Doesn't change that the 'mogul' phone a slower processor, slower memory, a QVGA screen, no video out, is taking forever to be released... Just freakin' unlock your network so real phones become available - it's obvious you don't know how to pick them and the ones you do take so long to make it to market that even your best choices are a year or two behind the industry.
I hate having to crank the side of my Sprint cell phone and telling Mabel to dial Clondike, 55...
