Sprint PPC-6800 delayed until fall?
A May launch for Sprint's variant of the HTC Titan sounded too good to be true, and indeed, it just might be. We've now heard from enough individuals to give some credence to a rumor that the PPC-6800 has been pulled back into the shop to get reworked for an October release just weeks before it was supposed to hit store shelves. The reason? Well, it's a pretty good one, it turns out; Sprint allegedly wants to take the time to do the launch up right by launching its flagship Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 6 and EV-DO Rev. A out of the gate. Now to be fair, we see no reason why they couldn't go ahead and launch it with Windows Mobile 5 and EV-DO Rev. 0 on the original timetable and push out an upgrade come this fall, but we've been through too many launch delays at this point to be too surprised or disappointed by the news.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

NOOOO! I have been waiting for this for months! I need to replace my treo 650 and need to get away from Palm OS. I thought this would be a good way to do it. I guess I will have to go with Treo 755p.

Alas...another delay. Can't say I am surprised.

does anyone know what this means for verizon customers waiting on the same phone?

Ah well, at least it's for a good cause. WinMo5 was my only real reservation about this device in the first place. I guess my 700p will have to last me a few more months. The 755p looks nice but not enough change to justify an "upgrade"...but that smooth antenna-less exterior does look real nice...

Wow, I been on the ppc 6800 since last year and i just found out yesterday it was gonna be released next week. But now this, well u know what WinMo5 would have been the wrong direction this tight phone. As far as ev-do rev a, I don't really know what that is?? can someone school me?? i guess data transfer speed? Def will wait and for sure getting one.

They're doing the right thing. People would have boughten the 6800 with Winmo5 and by next christmas there'll be a TON of devices out there with Winmo6. All those people who bought the 6800 with winmo5 would be madder 'n wet hornets caught in a lawn sprinkler.

I am glad that they chose to wait it out and bring out such a great phone right and with justice. I believe that the phone is going to be a classic and it will be the "top dog" in its class. I really wanted the EV-DO revision A and Windows Mobile 6 upgrade so its definitely worth the wait for me. To entertain myself, I will probably just purchase a Motorola Q or Treo 700wx and then when October swings around I will pick the 6800 up.

That's odd well last week I went to visit a friend of mine at Sprint. He looked in the computer and there is pricing already in their POS for the PPC-6700 sounds like it's just noise to get the buzz going. If it comes out I know a ton of people will be after it. I know I can't wait to fry my 700wx for the 6800 ;) good hunting!

I've also heard rumors of a possible Sprint Treo 755w that would have WM6 and the stubless 750/755 form factor that could be out even sooner but it sounds like speculation based upon educated guesses at this point.

hahahahaha Making my claims win out. God I love that. What? What did I say like in January? I told you VZW releasing the 6800 with Rev A on the device. We have the same delay though. not till Oct. But we are holding back the 6800 and 5800 till we can load WM6 on them....

i hope this isnt going to be $400 with new activation or something ridiculous. T-mobile offers the Wing to business customers for only $100 after $50 rebate.
