This is the model that Boost has been using for years, but it is less than 50cents for 24 hours. And their walled garden is free. This is a very smart model for most consumers, as they only use "web" access when they need it and would in many cases save money over a monthly data fee. Plus the Boost model of free access to the walled garden allows for not data cost to be tacked onto a purchase, of say a ringtone. Just think, that without a data plan a $5 ringtone could end up costing you $20 in data fees...dirty little secret I know.
This also opens the door for GPS and data on demand as most customers would like to use it. I hope that other carriers could adopt this model for casual users. Maybe it would lead to greater adoption.
