J.D. Power releases 2007 U.S. wireless carrier ratings
Who is your favorite U.S. wireless carrier? Jump onboard and compare your answers to winners (and losers) in the newest wireless rankings from J.D. Power and Associates. Overall winners for the six measured regions of the U.S. are now available from the popular rankings company. Note that the newest ratings are for 2007, Volume I (the first quarter, we suppose). As usual, T-Mobile continues to win spots across the board (it's been there for years now), with three direct wins and three ties. Honorable mentions? Alltel, AT&T and U.S. Cellular. Gone from the results? Sprint Nextel. Please note that your mileage may vary. See actual rankings after the break.Here are the 2007 overall rankings (for Volume I, that is):
- Northeast: T-Mobile
- Mid-Atlantic: T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless (tie)
- Southeast Region: Alltel, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless (tie)
- North Central Region: AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless (tie)
- Southwest Region: T-Mobile
- West Region: T-Mobile

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't really notice commenters on here bitch and moan about T-Mo like they do with at&t/Cingular and Verizon...
Maybe picking up that Sidekick 3 won't be such a bad idea after all...

you simply see more people complain about at&t and verizon because these companies have triple the number of customers that t-mobile has

These subscriber-based results are self-biasing and have no value. I'd be much more interested in seeing an independent review that accounts for coverage, dropped calls, plan values, features offered, and adoption of new technologies.

T-Mobile is simply the cheapest, and hence to many people's eyes are simply the best. Their customer service is really pretty good considering they are the only carrier I know of who still have customer service available 24/7

I have been a T-Mo customer since VoiceStream was the provider and have never had a problem or a dropped call in all those years. I consistently use my Tmo Blackberry in urban and rural places alike and found sound quality to be good, and data transmission and quality to be excellent. I would never switch! My only fear is that AT&T or some other big carrier will come along and swallow up Tmo and as a result reduce the quality of the customer service and raise prices.
And no, I am not a Tmo dealer or employee. Go TMo....

Great, Now expect the flurry of advertisements from T-Mobile trumpeting the customer service. With Verizon it was "the network." With Cingular/at&t it was about the "fewest dropped calls."
Somehow, the best customer service doesn't quite have the same zing that VZW and at&t have. It kind of infers that they don't have strengths in the area's of coverage and call quality that VZW and at&t have.
But then conversely, the opposite could be said of at&t's and VZW's customer service...

Isnt JD power an advertising agency as well? How much did Tmobile spend with them to get the number one rating? How come every year in Consumer Reports Verizon is number one? Your telling me people prefer a non 3g network?

@9... most people do not know what 3g is, have never heard of it, and have probably never even used their phone browser. the general public, especially in the usa, is very technologically DUMB
@7... dont think they will sell anytime soon. tmo is owned by its german parent company. but i guess u never know. at&t would be the most likely if that ever did happen
@5... Voce Wireless has 24/7 customer service. and there are no automated menus. live reps answer the phone immediately on every call.
@1... why would u want a sidekick 3? may as well just wait for the 4. or even better check out the nokia e90.

@10 you are a loon to even offer up Voce as an example. Voce is not a consumer carrier. $500 sign up and $200/month for unlimited voice and GPRS (not EDGE or HSDPA) in addition to the less than three ring customer service is not in the budget of a single line user. You would need to be on your phone at all times meaning 24/7 to justify this cost over the LONG RUN. I appreciate correcting a fact which is cosmically false, but realistically, T-Mo is the only plan 99.99% of americans could/would have that provides 24/7 support. I refer to statistical significance in countering Voce as even BEING a wireless provider haha

AT&T/Cingular seems to always show full bars but I get terrible reception and a lot of dropped calls. I think they have the phones show false signal strength.

Credit history got screwed because of T-mobiles lack of ability to show bill online.
One fine day I checked credit report and saw that there was an unpaid bill. I scratched my head, how did I miss a bill?. By contacting their customer service I found how negligent and foolish these stupids are.
I have been a T-Mobile customer, this year in Jan we moved to a family plan keeping the same phone numbers. We use tmobile website to pay the bill, guess what the company does not show my past due for my previous plan. Online shows the bill as $0, I called customer service they have no idea about the bill. I was continuosly paying my bills ontime without any clue about my past due.
If the plan got changed, and I am using the same number why did Tmobile not show me my past bill online?
They do not have a mechanism to track a simple billing case. This screwed my credit history and I will be paying higher interest rate for the stupids at Tmobile mistake.
Best customer service at Tmobile would not help to resolve. You need to call the collection agency is the answer. No service, they should be bankrupt and sent back to Europe.
