T-Mobile's BlackBerry 8800 now available

Right on cue, T-Mobile; nicely done. The BlackBerry 8800 is now available on T-Mobile's website to anyone will to plunk down the requisite cash, though word has it brick and mortar stores won't be seeing them for a little while yet. The price? A penny shy of $350 after instant discount -- a princely sum, yes, but can you really put a price on BlackBerry nirvana?

i went on the website and I don't think this blackberry has GPS. If thats the case i think imma have to pass and just stick with my pearl

I have the 8800 for cingular and it has GPS. I don't know why they would take it out of the 8800 for Tmob. It should be there.

As much as we all want to hate on the man, carriers have to charge you for *something*. The only reason they base their pricing on how many voice minutes you use is because it's an easy way to quantify things. Tying up their customer service agents all the time costs them way more money than sending a few thousand text messages. But, if they charged you based on how often you called customer service, people would freak out.Carriers need to (and eventually will) change their pricing structure. A pay-by-the-byte system is the only logical choice. Once they completely retool their business model to adjust for this, they'll have significantly less concern over what you're actually doing with those bytes.

Can I buy an unlocked Blackberry 8800 on ebay and use it with T-mobile without any problems? Will GPS work ok?

I currently have a Blackberry 7230 with T-Mobile. If I purchase a new T-Mobile Blackberry model can I jsut move the sim card from the old to the new phone. This way I do not have to pay for new service.
I have been told all I have to do is remove the sim card from you old phone and install it in the new phone and T-mobil will not know the differenced. Please confirm.
